I don't follow recruiting much at all, but the statement "4 open scholarships for 2024" assumes that Connor, David, Sam and Grant all graduate and go pro or get a job or take their extra "COVID" year of eligibility elsewhere, right?

"For purposes of calculating open scholarships, this list assumes that reported non-scholarship players are still non-scholarship and no players will take an extra COVID year."

It might be off by one or two. It's hard to keep track these days. I think I assumed Grant and Sam would leave and uncertain as to David or Connor. If they both go, there would be 5 as the only committed scholarship players would be those listed below. So, maybe I need to update that.

You might be forgetting how much better the senior Luka was than the freshman version.
Absolutely. Luka was really weak. I was at the SBU game in Olean his freshman year. A skinny Osunniyi pushed Luka around. I felt bad for Luka. I never thought Luka would get as strong as he got to be. Can't think of anyone who improved as much as he did.
Luka got a lot of unnecessary criticism his first three seasons. He started immediately on a team that finished 2nd in the A10 and averaged 11 and 6 on 55% shooting. He was always good, he just went from good to "retire his number" good. If anything, freshman Luka was actually better than SO Luka when he had a sophomore slump to an extent.

Also JAG's improvement was statistically (and in my own eye test) much greater. Even just on this team Des went from posting historically low shooting and offensive efficiency numbers his freshman year to being a very solid player that is now on track to make an all-conference team as soon as next season.

Settled on "up to 5 scholarships open."

With COVID and the portal, no one really knows.

I'm guessing the most we would have available is 3.

I hope the coaches are watching this kid:

Colt Langdon. 6-8, 235 sophomore at Raleigh Millbrook. Saw him play last night. He's the real deal. Good shoulders. Excellent footwork. A little foul-prone, but relentless with the basketball in the post. Nice three point stroke.

Reported Davidson offer to 2024 6'8 G/F Róbert Sean Birmingham. He is from Iceland and attends the Cannon School.

Son of a player. Reportedly great shooter. Checks a lot of Davidson boxes.

Langdon hit the 1000 career points mark. First player in MHS history to do it in his sophomore year.

Oh, and he's in the International Baccalaureate program. So hard classwork isn't a problem.
