Just bouncing around 247 sports and found these old rankings (nationally) for some of our past players:

Stephen Curry 256
Jake Cohen 290
Peyton Aldridge 343
De'Mon Brooks 338
Tyler Kalinoski 654

Plenty of talent to be found. And, the Davidson staff is good at finding it.

More here if you are curious (not exhaustive):

My favorite part of that article is the coach looking at another coach from his conference and telling a *reporter* on the record "See that guy? If his house burned down there'd be 11 suspects. He's that guy."
I took that to mean he's from a 12-team conference. That would narrow it down a little bit, at least.

Thanks for sharing, BDL. Fun read.

Sun Belt

Any others?
How many have five seniors this year? I don’t think this code is hard to crack.

Matt: "Coach, that's BDF."
Bob: "What?! There's two of them!?"

Not the Pac 12, which for some reason continues to be considered a Power conference.

This was clearly a midmajor.

So, 60 possible teams.

Sun Belt. Assuming you need to look for at least 5 apparent Seniors (and this wasn't misdirection), only possibilities are South Alabama and UT Arlington.

Ohio Valley. Only E. Illinois.

MEAC is only 11 teams. Oops.

MAC. Akron, Central Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois.

American. Cincinnati, Temple.

Teams with exactly 5 apparent Seniors or 5 scholarship Seniors: UT Arlington (5 Seniors), E. Illinois (5 scholarship), Akron (5 Seniors), N. Illinois (5 Seniors), Cincinnati and Temple (both with 5 scholarship and 5 total)

That would appear to be the universe of possibilities.

He said it was a head coach and they were at the Peach Jam. Someone can find out the head coaches that were there, do a linguistic or textual analysis of interviews of the suspects and we can open the Clue envelope and see if we are right.

Do we know for sure it was this year?

It was written like it was, but who knows. Just fun speculation.

The first sentence in the article mentions the July 11-14 live period, which matches the 2018-19 calendar.

In 2017-18, July 11-15 was the nearest live period. In 2016-17, July 12-16 was the nearest live period.

Can probably rule out Temple and Cincy. Both have brand new coaches.

Temple and Cincinnati aren't mid-majors whose coaches would need to share wristbands.

The coach in the article referred to it as an armband, but they wouldn't use armbands at recruiting events except in Charlottesville, VA.

Myles Stute Final 7 tomorrow.

Not optimistic, but, who knows?

Something about this process leaves me queasy. I mean their was a time I was begging for 17 year olds attention, only to not land in their top 7 choices, but at least the technological limitations of the time prevented my rejection from being broadcast nationally
If anyone disagrees with anything I say, I am quite prepared not only to retract it, but also to deny under oath that I ever said it

Through all of this, my biggest takeaway is that these coaches are wonderful evaluators of talent. If our 3rd or 4th choice can consistently land us player of the year talent, I'll take it. These coaches need a raise.

They may be the 3rd, 4th, or 5th recruit the coaches identified but could be their 1st or 2nd choice.
