This should be its own thread.
Tiger gets folks attention and then they talk about him. Your post and the ESPN headline are perfect examples.i77cat wrote:ESPN starts their coverage of another golf major with a photo of a guy who has no chance to win. He'll probably be well off the pace at the end of the round. That'll prompt the media to double down on the stupid and hit us with stories about how Tiger can come back.
Started the first 2 holes 3-over. Would need the spectacular comeback....i77cat wrote:ESPN starts their coverage of another golf major with a photo of a guy who has no chance to win. I'd like them to report on the event and to focus on the top players. Tiger isn't an elite player. He was. There is a very small chance that he could be elite in the future. I think the bigger story is whether or not Tiger can keep his incredible competitive nature from destroying his latest surgery. I think the media's obsession with Tiger makes it less likely that he'll win major tournaments in the future.wildforthecats wrote:Tiger gets folks attention and then they talk about him. Scores are actually even lower since they the PGA takes a par 72 course and calls it a par 70, artificially raising scores by 8 shots over the course of the weekend.citycat wrote:Tiger's at even par now, tied for 28th place. The leaders are at -5. The PGA usually has the lowest scores of all the majors. The pros want to look good at their party.
Tiger finished at even par. John Daly finished +1.
Penalty for behavior or clothing violation? Each is equally likely.citycat wrote:Daly appeared to be at +1 when he completed his round yesterday, but he is +3 before teeing off today. Whatever.
Maybe this needs to be in a math thread so stevelee can explain the math to me.citycat wrote:My bad. Daly was -1 after his 14th or 15th hole, but then dropped 2 shots to finish +3. He tapped in for a bogey on the 9th, his last hole and the announcers were very complimentary.
The PGA-The Major of a Lesser God.
Another Creosote would not be pleasant.Dr. Bliss wrote:Maybe this needs to be in a math thread so stevelee can explain the math to me.citycat wrote:My bad. Daly looks terrible. He must have ditched the gastric bypass. He may eventually suffer the fate of Mr. Creosote.
