Very weak cover story - truth be told, Berry punched wall upon being told that his sneaker guy was wearing an FBI wire.

The NCAA just decided Beverly is out for THE ENTIRE SEASON at NCSU.

For going to class.

“If worst comes to worst, I have to sit out,” Beverly said at media day. “I knew that could be a possibility coming into this situation.”

Right. How did he know it was a possibility? Because it is the rule. He started classes. Then transferred. He still gets four years of eligibility at NCSU, it just doesn't start until he's been at his new school for a year. Stinks for the player, but the NCAA often seems uninterested in the players.

Isn't his situation different from the typical one, in that the coach who successfully recruited him left the THE OHIO STATE UNIVERITY so all the school'srecruits were released from their obligation and had the one year of illegibility lifted for their transfer rights?

If my analysis is correct, then the imposition of this year ban seems beyond unjust and instead reinforces the truth that the NCAA cares nothing for the student component of the student athlete experience.

A soccer player on my freshman hall got in off the waiting list after starting classes at Michigan. At the time Michigan did not have men's soccer. Charlie Slagle had to apply to the NCAA to get the player eligible. Under those circumstances the NCAA did allow him to play as a freshman.

As Greeny at Mike and Mike pointed out this morning, the NCAA is punishing a kid for going to class. If he hadn't gone to class, he could play. But he went to class, so they punished him.

To understand the actions of the NCAA assume it is controlled by a cabal of its enemies.

It must be nice to recruit at a school that doesn't need to reflect too closely on the character of its recruits.
