When Amaker arrived at Harvard, part of his deal was to increase the "points" awarded in the admissions process to his recruits. All the Ivies do that. But Amaker scored a lot of points

I wasn't sure since he's clearly interested in playing both, but he posted two pictures of himself playing basketball in the tweet saying he was visiting Davidson.

Not sure it is that sinister. Amaker is just using Harvard's version of the Davidson Trust to his advantage. He goes after talented mid-major basketball players who qualify for need-based aid and are good students and says to them, "You can get an athletic scholarship to Directional State University, or you can come to Harvard and our need-based aid will cover you and you'll graduate with a Harvard degree."

Tell me you wouldn't make the same choice.

It certainly helps that need-based aid kicks in for all families making less than around $150K a year at Harvard. It must be nice to have a $40B endowment.

Our coaches know talent.

Davison is in play. Platek's AAU team sends them to the biggest program they can go to. No clue on Young.

We can identify 'em early. Just gotta get 'em interested early - like Grady.

Just read an article about a lawsuit in Princeton going after the tax exempt status of the University because of the trust earning and the cash received from patented drugs the university has helped developed. The article said that Yale and Harvard are in the cross hairs as well.

From what I can tell, Davison has a lot of connections to the Midwest, specifically family connections to Northern Iowa who he's been recruited by for a long time, but he is also a high-level student so hopefully that and everything else great about our program will pull his interests to the Southeast.

Two quick questions ...

1) The D1 Basketball LOI Regular Signing Period ends next week, on May 18. Are we likely to sign somebody by then?

2) What happens after May 18? For players entering school next fall, are they allowed to sign between then and the start of school?
