Kind of struck by the potential contrast between the self-important vibe given off by that graphic poster of "finalists" and the reality of the first days of practice in a humility-promoting program similar to the one with which we are familiar.

Three thoughts that immediately come to mind are:

(1) Does he have minions who put out these things?

(2) Is there going to be another "reveal" of three schools and then a dramatic decision day video with caps of the "final" finalists touched in turn and then one put on to wear?

(3) He must be a very good player.

If we live long enough, we all hit that point at which we become grumpy complainers about the drift of things as we scan the front yard for kids who need to be told not to play there. Best watch myself this season.

I can tell you this about heavily recruited kids: this announcement may be for the coaches more than anyone else. He likely had another 7 coaches call him after the announcement about why they didn’t make the list... with lines like “you said you would come to visit campus.” These are assistants who are judged by their ability to recruit talent, and communications they’ve made with their head coach. So trying to get some of these coaches to stop texting and calling can be a driving factor in these public announcements. I’m not saying it’s the only reason, and that kids don’t get caught up in the reality show aspect of recruiting, only that these kids are being exposed to a multi-billion dollar industry at 17 years of age and most will need tons of guidance to navigate it.

There was never a lot of genuine interest when you scroll back through the recruiting blogs. He was a P5 focused player.

None of the Final 7 offered before Davidson, so, I would say we were clearly No. 8. Our interest likely catapulted him to those offers as, clearly, if Davidson offers, the player is very good.

I wouldn't be surprised if P5 schools closely follow who we offer and use that to inform who they scout.

Does this mean that Davidson guys are likely to get a chance with Cleveland's summer league team going forward?

Hoping Peyton gets a chance somewhere in NBA. Would be good for us to have him associated with the league. Anyone hear anything on Memphis or other teams?

Not news—just a reminder—but Davidson has three good players joining the team for this upcoming season:

Jones: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bbfsp5_sUyg (I think these are sophomore highlights); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-uwYAUmmMI

Kristensen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6y_WK4 ... pp=desktop

Lee: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sz5-5cwD-M0

I'm excited to see how these three contribute.

Ridiculous freshman highlights for 2022 Isaac McNeely. This is why the coaches have already offered him.
