Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Also not unimportant: Have we had a kid from East Asia? Basketball is and has been expanding rapidly in the Far East for awhile now, and opening up a pipeline/establishing connections in the region could be very beneficial.

Eugene Jung and Peter Anderer are two with family backgrounds I can think of.
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Ali Mackay was around 5 years. He had no difficulty arranging his academics to be on campus 5 years and eligible for 4.
Giving an extra year to a player who might not be ready made more sense when we were in the Southern Conference. With a higher level of competition in the A10 and being able to recruit better players, we should not have to take a flyer on a recruit who might or might not develop.
When Chris Pearson was able to turn pro after 4 years at Davidson, he graduated, not using his 4th season of eligibility. We subsidized his learning to chew gum and dribble.
According to some insiders on the board, if we had pulled out a miracle against Lipscomb, we would have started walkons against UNCG. We need guys who are healthy and ready to play from day one.

That's right. I think I had that mixed up.CatsUpNorth wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 3:16 pmLa Salle was also the only other school to go see JAG in Iceland, per Gianini on a broadcastRichmondCat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 3:14 pmBDL wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 3:12 pm+1; I explicitly trust our staff when it comes to recruiting (for example, who else was in on JAG?) but seeing a P6 school, especially a successful one like Xavier, is encouraging.bvgerd wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 2:52 pmIm torn. I believe St. Joseph's was very interested in JAG, for one.
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Hard to believe that the staff would be interested in redshirting someone they're competing with a Big East team to get...
Lee is a player. Davidson would be better with him on the team. Hope it happens.

I'm hopeful we become a program where kids start committing 1 yr + in advance.
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Or, in the case of Isaac McKneely, 3 years in advance!

So I guess we don't have to post in code anymore? We had gotten pretty hung up on that.RichmondCat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 09, 2019 11:10 amDavidson mention herein.

"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''

Verbal Commits's scholarship chart for Xavier looks like they're close to full.
And this Xavier recruiting thread mentions that they have reached out to former Duquesne player Eric Williams.

Jason Morton speaks Japanese. He included that in his speech at the Basketball Banquet in 2006.
That might not be useful when recruiting a Korean prospect.

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Lee has played in Australia. Our women’s staff has a strong network there. Anyone know if they helped in getting him on our radar?
Bob in the huddle during timeout: "Don't listen to BDL!"
Matt: "Coach, that's BDF."
Bob: "What?! There's two of them!?"

I'm assuming he meant for developmental purposes not for academic reasons.
"He is a 6-foot-3, sweet smiling, fun loving boogeyman who will decimate entire teams, then sign autographs and take pictures with his fallen foes' children.
He is a question with no answers."
