Back-of-the-envelope scholarship count: Davidson gets thirteen scholarships. For the 2016-2017 season, Davidson presumably has 10 (of 13 available) scholarships used by: McAuliffe & Gibbs ('17); Aldridge, Ekwu, Magarity(RS), Michelson, Reigel, & Watkins ('18 ); Kovacevic, & Pritchett ('19).

I thought with the injury redshirts that the latter two would now be class of '20Waitress wrote:Back-of-the-envelope scholarship count: Davidson gets thirteen scholarships. Good catch. I'll change soon.stan wrote:I thought with the injury redshirts that the latter two would now be class of '20Waitress wrote:Back-of-the-envelope scholarship count: Davidson gets thirteen scholarships. With all the anticipation and fun of looking forward to the "next season" each year, I don't think I've ever been so immersed in such a prolonged sense of looking to the "next next season". The good news of Magarity's transfer had to be tempered by knowing the wait would be about 18 months. KiShawn's and Dusan's injuries led to a similar sense. Now, I'm so excited about Kellan Grady, and then I realize it's another 18 months till he steps on stage, too! It's tough to wait, but such awesome news!!!

Jared Stutzman?
His father's twitter and his AAU team twitter say that Davidson is in the mix. Jared finished high school in 2014, was committed to San Francisco, has been released, and has just returned from his 2-yr LDS mission. He has four years left to play ball. Andrew Platek 1-on-1 interview: http://www.d1circuit.com/news_article/s ... id=2502921
Some interesting parts include:
Some interesting parts include:
AK: What’s the most important factor for you when picking a school?
Platek: There’s a lot of factors, but the most important one to me is academics. I want a school that I can proud to say I graduated from with a degree that means something. I want the coaches and players invested in their success off the court as well as on it.
AK: Who is recruiting you the hardest right now?
Platek: Right now, definitely Miami, Davidson, George Washington, St. Joseph’s, Yale and Butler.
I found the point about emphasizing academic interesting, because so many kids say that, but if true, I feel much better about our chances of landing him considering we have a huge edge in that department over the two schools he's visited so far (Miami and Butler). He's a heck of a shooter and surprisingly athletic, would be a major get for the program and hopefully Kellan can work him.AK: What’s the strongest aspect of your game besides your jumper?
Platek: I’d have to say my defense. I’d always guard the opposing team’s best player and had success many times. My coaches and teammates give me confidence in my defense and with that, I feel like I can guard anyone. It’s a surreal experience, guarding players of the caliber that I do. I learn from every player, every game.
True. But he's still interested in Davidson, Davidson is interested in him, and he'd be great in our system.CatsUpNorth wrote:A lot of stuff out there saying he left for religious reasons and wants a school with stronger LDS presence.i77cat wrote:Jared Stutzman?

Offensive reference to a golf course development, cub scouts, and the Utah primary removed.
