Re: 2024–2025 Davidson MBB Scholarship Players
Does anyone have insight into whether or not the coaching staff anticipates meaningful playing time next season for Mike Loughnane? He was Matt’s first commit as HC but saw very little court action during his freshman year. Hopefully he will be ready and able to contribute at point guard, especially if we don’t land a good one soon in the portal.

In Matt's talk at the banquet, he said that Mike will be an important part of the team next season, or something to that effect. Someone else here might be able to give a more accurate quotation.ScootCat wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 9:18 amDoes anyone have insight into whether or not the coaching staff anticipates meaningful playing time next season for Mike Loughnane? I was surprised at how little we saw of him on the court last season.

Re: 2024–2025 Davidson MBB Scholarship Players
IMO this roster would work better with a variety of zone defenses that should be worked on in the pre season. We seem to have big wingspans and not much of the "quicks" I can not see anyone on the roster who could chase a speedy A10 point guard for 40 minutes unless Coval has those abilities.Acorn wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 7:37 amDepartures from 2023–2024 (and what their class was):

Re: 2024–2025 Davidson MBB Scholarship Players
It says something that he was singled out by name, not in a laundry list. What that says, I don't know. "Work hard this summer and maybe you'll get a little playing time"? What it says? Some of both? Nothing?Waitress wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 6:53 pmCoachspeak.stevelee wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 10:26 amIn Matt's talk at the banquet, he said that Mike will be an important part of the team next season, or something to that effect.ScootCat wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2024 9:18 amDoes anyone have insight into whether or not the coaching staff anticipates meaningful playing time next season for Mike Loughnane? Well, we sure need him to contribute. I suspect he’ll be much improved.

Re: 2024–2025 Davidson MBB Scholarship Players
I see Kochera playing some pg next year also. Although he is best suited for sg.
Re: 2024–2025 Davidson MBB Scholarship Players
Updated to include Blums:
Newcomers (and what their class will be)
1.) Nick Coval, G, Fr, 6’1”
2.) Joe Hurlburt, F, R-So, 6’11”
3.) Manie Joses, G, Fr, 6’7”
4.) Zach Laput, G, post-baccalaureate certificate seeker, 6’4”
5) Roberts Blums, G, Fr, 6’2”
Returning (and what their class will be):
6.) Hunter Adam, G, R-So, 6’7”
7.) Reed Bailey, G, Jr, 6’10”
8.) Bobby Durkin, G, So, 6’7”
9.) Riccardo Ghedini, G, R-Jr, 6’7”
10.) Connor Kochera, G, super-Sr, 6’5”
11.) Sean Logan, F, Jr, 6’10”
12.) Mike Loughnane, G, So, 6’4”
Who do we expect to start? Who plays PG?
I’d guess that Kochera and Bailey are virtual locks to start. One of Logan or Hurlburt in all likelihood. Durkin probably starts. But that leaves one spot and a need for a primary ballhandler. Blums? Laput? Coval? Loughnane? Do two of those guys start and Durkin comes in as the sixth man?

Re: 2024–2025 Davidson MBB Scholarship Players
Durkin was surprised and genuinely delighted to be last season's Colt 45 Award winner; he might lobby Matt to come off the bench so he can be a contender again.Acorn wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 4:37 pm
