Our rank: #246 for incoming transfers; #310 for overall transfer activity.

Bottom third. Whee!

Re: Portal
I think it is a lock that Brizzi would have started next season, given what we have.
We may get a transfer who will start, and-if we do-you have to take into consideration whether we would have gotten that transfer if Brizzi were still here.
Longwood is quite a comedown from Villanova.

Well, Longwood has been to the dance twice I believe in the last 3-4 years. He has a better chance winning a Big South title than he did an A10 title.
Regardless, I think it was a dumbass move. I agree with Bagel, he was a lock to start assuming an all-star freshman or transfer didn't arrive.

Re: Portal
Have we heard what Schulte’s plans are? I believe we know where every other Davidson player who entered the portal ended up (Brizzi to Longwood; Huffman to Vanderbilt; Moss to Radford; Skogman to DePaul; and Spadone to Bucknell).
Re: Portal
If Brizzi can fix his three point stroke, and stop perpetually driving deep into the paint with nowhere to go, he can become a very solid player. I hope he does.

Somewhere on line I saw reference to a pro team in Germany, but it was unclear what was going on.

Calipari planning on 8 or 9 scholarship players.

Very interesting and honest commentary from Calipari. I don’t think I’d bet against the guy. He has something to prove. For those that don’t know, he played point guard at UNC-W, before transferring to Clarion.

When you are funneling six figure amounts in NIL cash to each scholarship player, no point in paying dudes who won't play and will transfer anyway.i77cat wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 8:11 pmhttps://www.espn.com/mens-college-baske ... r-8-9-guys

Re: Portal
I can’t help wondering if it isn’t the right strategy in the current transfer environment. Most coaches are only going to play eight or so players major minutes. If you have five scholarship players sitting on the bench, they’re probably wondering if they might be better off elsewhere. That can create some toxic team chemistry. And that would seem to go doubly so for transfers in. They probably didn’t pack up their bags and move in order to ride the pine (or perhaps even to be something less than a starter).
Re: Portal
After the disastrous injury season our girls team had this year I cannot imagine deliberately rostering so few scholarship players. Sure dont make promises of big NIL money to guys on the end of the bench and dont get attached (advice which seems to apply to every player now a days), but youre tempting fate if you roll the dice with just 8 or 9.

Re: Portal
Seems like he could stock the end of the bench with 5 really good low-major or D-2 players who would jump at the chance to play every now and then for a big-time Power 6 school that will undoubtedly make the NCAA tournament, money be damned. I doubt academics will be a problem, either, so they might even be able to find a couple of guys with welding certificates.
