One name on Bryant's list caught my eye. Samartine "Fat Man" Bogues is Muggsy's 5'6" grandson (HS class of '23).

Back in SoCon days we used to ride buses to games, usually one for D Block and one for FBC and friends. One time there must have been a smaller group going, because there was just one bus with us old folks in the back and the football players in the front. I was sitting just behind the students, and I overheard a conversation on the row in front of me about the difference between atheism and agnosticism. I don't have anything in particular to say about the content (sounded reasonable to me), but I was a bit surprised at the choice of topic.

One of my classmates for decades has not been sure whether he is agnostic or an atheist. A few years back, he decided on the latter. In March he was in Florida while I stayed at his house in Dallas for an SMU reunion. When I arrived at his place, I went next door to pick up the key. The couple wound up coming over to chat, and the wife went home shortly. The husband wanted to stay and have a long theological discussion, which went on until time for Torrey and his son to pick me up to go out for a late dinner. He said he didn't know anyone around there with whom he could have such a conversation, and obviously not my classmate (with whom they are good friends). He found out that I would be through with the event on Wednesday and flying home on Thursday, so he came over Wednesday evening and fixed a nice pasta dish and a salad, and we had a discussion for a few hours. He grew up Catholic and is some sort of doctor, but I didn't get much more biography than that. We did reflect on experiences visiting patients in the hospital, which we both had done in our work. It was my last indoor conversation to date.

According to Verbal Commits a 6’8” Macedonian PF named Andrej Jakimovski has committed to Washington State. He also had offers from Utah, Utah St, Minn. GaTech, BC, and Davidson. Who knew?

However, a source close to the program said the team thinks it can add Jakimovski without any further departures. Interesting. This would disproportionately benefit Power 5 schools. of course. WSU already had 13 players on scholarship before signing Jakimovski, but one of them is still in the draft pool. WSU will encourage that guy to announce his decision on August 3, and not a day before.
