Welcome, Hyunjung! Excited to add him to the team. He has a quick, accurate, effortless three-point shot and a good instinct. Should be a very nice player.

Great news! excited to add him to the program.
We have one more scholarship to give in 2019?

Assume ideally we’d get spencer to visit (is he going to come?) and then commit. Otherwise a transfer. We have so many spots for 2020 would be good to keep targeting our 2020s and add selectively to players now that add some versatility or fill some production holes now.

Article from Korean newspaper on commitment: http://www.basketkorea.com/news/article ... LVsIVt7pmU
Google translate makes it difficult, but it looks like his mom was a silver medalist in basketball at the 1984 Olympics, and his father is film director Lee Yoon-ki (or Yoon-ki Lee).

Coach Bob Mackelov. Sounds both Eastern European and naughty at the same time....

Would someone like to translate . . .?

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
there are some funny lines in that google translate document.
Happy to add Lee. He seems very focused on becoming a better basketball player and recognized Davidson as a school that can help him grow as a player given all the available tools and resources.
I think adding Spencer Jones would be huge. He really is versatile. Strikes me as a Cam Johnson esq player, not recruited a lot until last second. Could blossom in next 2-3yrs into something special. He would fill a huge need.

Thanks. No one has found the perfect automated translation system, but this at least provides the gist of it. I get the feeling that Davidson may be the most international of any NCAA basketball program at this point.
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
I have no clue to what that means, but I guess it doesn't matter any more.At the moment, Kyle Smith, who transferred the enemy to Washington State University, was reportedly putting a scout on Lee Hyun Joong. You can see how much interest Lee Hyun Joong was in.
Atlantic 10 is considered a decent conference among mid-majors.

I'm very excited about Lee. His idol his Klay Thompson, who I consider is in our extended Davidson splash family, and his shot and height resemble Klay's.
Does anyone who may have spoken to the coaches have an idea about when we expect him to contribute? Does he project as an immediate contributor or more of a project? Obviously, he needs to gain some weight, but plenty of our freshmen have needed to gain weight and still been factors from Day 1.

A lot depends on the health of Mike Jones, who is a similarly skilled shooter who could ideally gain some bulk. Either way, gotta love having multiple weapons like that available and in the rotation, especially since our outside shooting numbers from last year have some serious room for improvement.BaseRich306 wrote: ↑Mon May 06, 2019 5:32 pmI'm very excited about Lee. Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
I think the gist is that Kyle Smith was recruiting HJ Lee while at Univ. of San Francisco. Smith left (transferred) to take the head coaching position at (enemy) Washington State, continued to scout Lee, & offered him there as well. Which I suppose indicates multiple teams were very interested in him.
I know Washington State is perennially near the bottom of the Pac-12, but it is nice to know that Lee chose Davidson over a Pac-12 school (and presumably would have chosen us over USF who plays in the WCC with Gonzaga and St. Mary's)
