True, like USC, a Full House doesn't bother them.wildforthecats wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 1:08 pmStanford would find room on the women’s rowing team or something.RichmondCat wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 12:56 pmWell, Stanford, according to verbalcommits.com, is sitting at -1 available scholarships for this year, so, who knows?

For almost all sports, a player would be smart to choose Stanford. Excellent athletics across the board. Men's hoops is an exception. If a player chooses Davidson over Stanford, he'll be on a better team and get better coaching.

Agree, but Stanford is the one school where that might not matter. I love my alma mater to death, but Stanford was my dream school growing up, and I think is for most academically inclined athletes. My buddies and I play a game where we say which school we would want to play at for particular sports if we were elite and could choose anywhere, and we had to eliminate Stanford as an option since everybody always picked it.
We are a better basketball school, and I would argue if you value basketball and overall happiness we are the obviously better option, and I hope we can persuade Spencer Jones of that. That being said, I'll never blame a kid for choosing Stanford and think it's the most understandable alternative to us.
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
In July, 1987, I spent two weeks studying at CCRMA at Stanford. I was much taken by the place and met amazing pioneers in their fields. The night I arrived, I wandered around campus and saw a sign outside the chapel that there was a vacancy on their chaplaincy staff. Unfortunately, the campus paper the next morning announced the new hire.
A couple years ago I gave a tour of our campus to a retired astrophysicist who was still living on the Stanford campus at the time.
Stanford was not on my radar at all when I was considering colleges. Perhaps a campus visit then would have convinced me that I didn't want to go there for much the same reason a visit to Duke convinced me I didn't want to go there. But the PhD students and the profs I met there in 1987 were folks I easily related to.

It’s a great place to fundraise for your fake start-up, as well! Zing!

Pretty excited to see what Lee, Kristensen and Mike Jones will bring to the team next season.
Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
Not to get anyone too excited, but I've also heard that David and Luke (apparently he has been driving and attacking) have looked really good in recent workouts and action.RichmondCat wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2019 10:44 pmPretty excited to see what Lee, Kristensen and Mike Jones will bring to the team next season.
