Wrestling has a narrow lead in the competition.

I see that our memorial gifts for Chantillycat will be counted toward the women's basketball score, unless you are an alum of a different sport, in which case it would count for yours. Non-athletes' gifts count toward whatever designation it had, if any, over the course of the fiscal year.

At this point, all of the sports are in the same ballpark, so to speak. A $10,000 bonus would make more of a difference to some sports than others, or at least a bigger percentage of total budget.

I'm not pulling for any particular outcome, but since I am on the email list, and probably most of you are, I'll at least see the results. The concept that athletes might respond to competition doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

So there's a fundraising competition going on? How much money have the leaders raised?

The chart they publish shows just the scores for each team based on percentage participation and percentage of each team's goal. Obviously some sports have vastly more alumni/ae than others, so the scoring tries to level the playing field, so to speak.

A neighbor played four different sports at Davidson. A Facebook post suggests that her gifts count toward them all.

Officially quitting takes a person out of the denominator, so the score doesn't get adversely impacted.
