What happened to all of the old threads?

It appears that all of the threads that were started prior to mid-June 2020 have disappeared from the Football, MBB, Baseball, Olympic Sports, Cats in the Pros, Non-Athletics, and Other Schools' Athletics folders. WBB is still intact as far back as 2017, and all of the HOF posts are still there, thank goodness. Was this intentional by the Admins, or is it a regular built-in housecleaning function? I don't recall it happening before. Do we need to pony up for some more storage space?

It's an automatic house-cleaning function, customizable at the forum level. This clean-up has been happening for years.

I believe that most, if not all, of the current forum level settings were inherited from the old message board implementation. I believe that most of those were set years ago.

I remember double-checking the settings when I ported the message board to phpBB3 some 22 months ago.

We are not short on disk space.

I do remember this sort of thing happening in the past.

If you liked it, then you should have put a post on it.

The decision to automatically delete a thread is based on the age of its most recent post. Threads with new activity will not get deleted.

Pretty sure he's playing on the "put a ring on it" thing. But it is true that a way to keep an old thread from dropping off is to simply add to it.
