Steph update
Re: Steph update
Knox and a fist full of 2nd round picks were rerouted to Portland for GP II (again). Seems like a lot to give up, but Peyton was a key reserve for their championship team. And Wiseman wasn't really doing them any good right now. Just Win, Baby!
Re: Steph update
Good trade. Better to hold onto Kuminga than Wiseman, and I love that Payton is back.
Hope Steph is able to get at least one more ring before he retires.

Re: Steph update
Financial considerations were big in trading Wiseman. His salary next season will be around $12 million. This year and next year the Warriors save around $37 million in luxury taxes by getting rid of Wiseman's contract. Payton will receive $8.3 million this year and $8.7 million next year. So the Warriors will net $millions in salary savings and luxury taxes this year and next year in the deal.
The Warriors wanted help now and not future draft choices. There was not a big market for Wiseman. I hope he does well with Detroit, but there is no certainty that he will make it in the NBA. The Warriors saved money and got a player they really wanted in return ... all for a player with potential but who was not playing much at all.

Re: Steph update
We don't know how Wiseman's work ethic may have played into this. Not casting aspersions here, but admitting that the Warriors know a lot more about him than I do.They also know more about GP II.

Re: Steph update
My guess: The Warriors will keep Payton. Bringing Wiseman back after trading him is not a good option. And the Warriors really want Payton. Either Portland will volunteer compensation to the Warriors or the NBA will require it.
Portland's team doctor? He cleared Payton to play and then prescribed toradol to help him with pain tolerance when he did play. That doesn't sound right ... if strong pain control medicine was required he probably should not have been playing. There needs to be an independent doctor assigned by the NBA to evaluate Payton. I'm waiting for Gary Payton senior to speak on the issue. He is not bashful!

Not a big surprise. Hopefully he's ready by playoff time. Will inject some big energy then.

Re: Steph update
Kevin Love has appeared on the buyout market. Excellent rebounder which the Warriors need immediately ...
With injuries and the way they've been playing recently the Warriors need immediate help and will need help if they make the playoffs.
