Guess that's why Steph is so unpopular with the media, fans, and other players.Cat Forever wrote: ↑Tue Sep 28, 2021 7:55 pm... and first on their list of course: He's an outspoken Christian. They'll always be after him, but I suspect he'll keep answering all questions and he'll be OK.

"List" indicates a number of items. There are a number of reasons the left doesn't like Isaac. He rejects BLM and displays of protest directed at the national anthem for example. He is far more outspoken than Steph regarding his faith ... both seem to be strong Christians of course. But Isaac goes to great lengths to explain his faith in interview after interview. He says his faith is the major basis for his decision making. The press finds reason to criticize him for that. Steph has mastered the PR aspect of the family business and maintains acceptance from most conservative and liberal fans. His innate humility and graciousness make PR easy for him. PR does not seem to be a concern of Isaac although he presents himself with humility and he is non-judgemental regarding his teammates and other players.

Mr. Isaac provides a thoughtful response. (Where is the "Shut up and dribble" crowd?) It is also wrong. Good on Dame for his equally thoughtful, and correct, response.

If piety is a plus (which I don’t personally hold to, but whatevs), I assume all issacs supports hold Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, the original anthem nealer, in equally high esteem. He he has a cat stevens (er, Yosef Islam) level of devotion to his faith, and was widely derided for it. He also forsake alcohol and pork, which is just giving up everything good in life, so maybe the public vitriol didn’t hit him so hard after that.
If anyone disagrees with anything I say, I am quite prepared not only to retract it, but also to deny under oath that I ever said it
Re: Steph update
Kareem also has a point of view that he is very willing to share. It is not inconsistent with either his faith or the Christian faith: the sublimation of individual freedoms for the sake of our neighbor(s). This has also been a very American value...may it ever be so.

Re: Steph update
Finally we have a place to go on our site where we can discover what is right and what is wrong.
So far Jonathan Isaac seems as well informed or better informed than some folks who have strong opinions nevertheless. You know someone is losing when they pull out the tried but untrue "anti-vaxxer" and "vaccine denier" terms to describe someone with whom they disagree. Isaac has natural immunity to Covid 19. He has informed himself about natural immunity vs vaccine immunity. There are studies from Israel highly supportive of his position. I think there is one study from Kentucky that says that vaccination is better even if you have natural immunity. Our CDC has picked that one study from Kentucky over the Israeli studies. Could they have picked an outlier?
Here's Isaac again. You may disagree but he is not obviously wrong because there is science to support his position.

I think this site reflects more what some people think is right based on what they have read or believe vs. what other people believe is right based on what they have read or believe. There is an awful lot of choosing sources to support one's preconceived opinions or ideology on both sides of the discussion, and to believe that we are providing a place to discover "what is right and what is wrong" is a bit much.
This is a pretty good opinion piece from the NYT (I realize the source will be an automatic disqualifier for some) regarding the NBA, Kyrie Irving, Lebron James, Kareem, and Jonathon Isaac. It is behind a paywall, unfortunately, and if anyone knows how to get around that, let us know. I'm a subscriber, so I can pick and choose paragraphs to quote, but the entire context is important, so I'm not going to do that. Basically, the author opines that making NBA players into spokespersons for one side or the other of the vaccine issue is pretty ridiculous no matter how well spoken they are. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/10/04/opin ... ayers.html

Steph’s triple double leads the Warriors over LeBron and the Lakers last night.
Re: Steph update
Very encouraging. Steph shot poorly but GS still won. The reserves played very well

28 at the half on 10-14 shooting, 5-6 from three, and 3-3 from the line.

Re: Steph update
He made 9 straight shots in the first quarter. Of course he had to rest the first 4-5 minutes of the 2nd quarter, right? This is a dumb way to manage a superstar shooter. Steph should demand to keep playing when he is that hot. We see lesser players taking "heat check" shots after they've made 2 or 3 shots in a row. Last night was not the first time this scenario has played out. It's predictable. Steph has a first quarter shooting streak, sits the first 5-6 minutes of the 2nd quarter and comes out cold. Last night he was 1 for 5 in the 2nd quarter. Kerr places cold water on Steph instead of playing him until he cools off. There's plenty of time for rest after he misses a couple of shots and the hot streak ends.
Do we think Kobe or Michael would have stayed on the bench for 4-6 minutes after going 9 for 9?

Really? With well over 100 games possible it’s probably a good idea to have a plan where your best player is not worn down by the 3rd game.
