Re: Steph update
Nice Davidson mention and video clip in the postgame. Breen, Jackson, and Van Gundy can't say enough good stuff about Steph.
"We were in the center ring the whole night,'' longtime Davidson coach Bob McKillop said. ''We were not on the ropes. We were not on the mat. We were in the center ring slugging away, and we just ran out of time.''
Re: Steph update
Jackson pretty consistently sings Steph's praises, whom it must be admitted, is someone who makes his team better, his teammates better and his coaches better.

Re: Steph update
Steph has entered a new realm. He will now be thought of (by most "experts") as one of the top ten players to have ever played the game ... and he isn't done yet. Let that sink in ... Look for the Warriors to win a couple more championships in the next 3-4 years. Steph hasn't stopped getting better each year, Klay will get much better next year, Wiggins will refine his game further to become a perennial all star, and the youngins on the roster (Poole, Wiseman, Kuminga, Moody) will make more contributions than they have this year. If Wiseman gets healthy and can split time at center with Looney the rim defense will get much better.
There will still be critics and doubters. But today Steph Curry's Warriors are the best team in the world. In the end it wasn't close either. The Curry dynasty is in the process of getting better and they're ready to start a new run of championship basketball.

I am enjoying Windhorst's attempt to spin his humiliation by Steph.

And Kendrick Perkins says his "no more championships for the Warriors" prediction was one of the things that motivated them to excel.MikeMaloy15 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 9:08 amI am enjoying Windhorst's attempt to spin his humiliation by Steph.

After losing game 3.
Mea culpa.DC69Wildcat wrote: ↑Wed Jun 08, 2022 11:37 pmWarriors throw in the towel with 2 minutes left. The Celtics are a very good team, better than the Warriors, and I think they will win it in 6.

Re: Steph update
Don't worry, Doc. This, also, may have been one of the things that motivated the Warriors to succeed.
Re: Steph update
Has it escaped mention that Steph won the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award against the Celtics on their court?

Steph defensive stats: https://www.nba.com/stats/player/201939 ... stNGames=1
Close out Game 6 Celtics shot 33% FGs with Steph as primary defender. Finals 38.8%. Playoffs 37.9%. Regular season: 44.1%
Compares very favorably to Marcus Smart DPOY: Game 6 50%. Finals 36.5%. Playoffs 41.3%. Regular season 45%
Finals Steals/game: Curry 2.0. Smart 1.5.
Boston's strategy to target Steph failed.
He now has the ability to play defense at a much higher level than a few years ago.

The August 31 event is a mini-graduation, HOF induction, and jersey retirement. I didn’t know that the retirement of the number 30 is an additional move, and a unique one for Davidson.

Re: Steph update
I heard and assume this means that no Davidson athlete will wear the #30 again.
Re: Steph update
I’m guessing we’ll see #30 on the gridiron and diamond.
Re: Steph update
David Dennis, Jr., is on Around the Horn right now wearing his Davidson shirt. He said when he first saw Steph, he doubted that he could even beat Elon.
