2025 Football Schedule

Post by 85Wildcatsky » Tue Feb 04, 2025 6:21 pm

It could be the toughest since the 1970's & 80's.

Coach Thakkur- "If you are going to be good, you have to be challenged."

Coach said Pioneer League teams can only take 64 dressed out players to conference road games.

No one asked him, but that should limit the home team to 64 players in uniform.

Why so?

Wouldn't having a full roster give the home team a big advantage?

Years ago, Tim Landis told us the Pioneer League limited both teams to 56 players in conference games.

Citycat: Most teams are most likely only to get 2 deep ready to play for the game. Other players will probably be in a scout team role for the week. There are always exceptions but most of the 3rd and 4th stringers are not going to give you an advantage because they won't know what they are doing.

We open the season at home against Georgetown and on the road against Elon. That's two FCS schools. Hopefully the days of College of Faith and St. Andrews visiting us have come to an end.

8/30 Georgetown home

9/6 Elon road

9/13 Tenn Tech from the Ohio Valley conference in Cookeville, TN

9/20 St Andrews

St Thomas and Drake are back on the schedule. San Diego, Dayton, Stetson, Presby, and Morehead. I cant remember the final two.

There surely is a lot of meat on that bone! 3 OOC FCS programs.

Coach said recruiting is going great and they will also try to make up for portal losses with some quality transfers.

Offense should be balanced pass/run. Up tempo.

Special teams would be aggressive but smart. It will not be an option attack. The OC said we should expect a lot of pulling guards.

The overall strategy discussed in the zoom call was that the team would be attacking on all fronts. I hope we have the horses to pull it off. We took a pretty serious 7-8 player hit in the portal with many of our quickest players.

We'll be fine. At least by some rankings, Coach's team at Bentley was better than Davidson last year.

We can beat Georgetown. Elon and Tennessee Tech will make us better.

12 game schedule. I’m okay with playing St. Andrews since it means playing 3 OOC FCS schools.

I think Marist stays and the Indiana schools (Butler/Valpo) are off this year.

I hope Catawba will be back on the schedule some time in the next few years. A Bandys player has signed with them. His dad was a parishioner of mine when he was a kid, and I’m a friend of his grandparents and knew some other ancestors, etc.

Is 9/20 considered a bye because the Cats are playing St Andrews? 8-)

I just heard from his dad that Davidson did offer Evan somewhat late, but already had his heart set on Catawba. One or both of his parents went there, and I guess maybe a better choice for playing time as QB.
