Fabulous news!
I understand the new stadium will have a fully automated, GPS-based, sideline marker system which will eliminate the need for a human chain gang.

I think, when everything is taken in, that this is great for Davidson athletics. However, my one gripe (and it is a big one) - the stadium is waaaaay too small. With only 5000 seats, two things are guaranteed:

* We will rarely have a decent non-conference game. Doubtful many D1 schools will return games.

* We lose out on a whole segment of quality recruits with a small stadium.

But then, anything is an improvement over that ancient dump.
I finally clicked on the tab and saw the 5000. Yes that could hurt but in the current configuration it looks like end zone grass may be available for overrun. I have been at Navy and Wake games where the end zone hill is easily filled with 2 - 5000 more fans. The key is to make sure it doesn't end up looking like a high school stadium.
Valparaiso is hosting Dartmouth Saturday. Valparaiso's stadium holds 5000. Dartmouth would be an acceptable non-conference opponent.

I think this board needs to make a collective donation to get the chains named for wftc.

Coach Fagg (and Barbara!) will always have a warm place in my heart, and this news made me very happy. Well-deserved. And I'm grateful for Mr. Andrews' humble generosity in helping recognize this great Wildcat. Good stuff all around!
