Re: Wake Forest admits the truth
Wake has replaced Mississippi with a road trip to Oregon State on next year's schedule. The Beavers will come to Winston Salem in 2029, or earlier if the teams can agree on a date.
Wake's non-conference schedule next year will be Oregon State, Kennesaw State, Western Carolina, and Delaware. The last three will be home games.
Wake was probably obligated to replace Mississippi with a P4 game. Oregon State needs P4 games, too.

Y'all remember: We beat Wake in basketball - series ends. We beat Wake in baseball - series ends. We beat Wake in men's soccer - series ends.
There is a history to that sort of behavior from the Deacs. Full disclosure - I've never been a fan of the place. Ever.

Dave Odom was King of the NIT. And a scheduling coward.

I was a fan of Wake when my friend’s son played basketball there.

I remember Ralph. He played for Bob Staak his first three seasons. Staak has been seen in the Arener and Brickhouse over the recent years.
Re: Wake Forest admits the truth
When I mentioned him several years back, someone here filled me in on his later life. It seems like he became a high school principal around Greensboro. His daughter Elizabeth played for Virginia Tech, and I think was drafted by the WNBA.

Ralph was the principal at Northwest Guilford, where Elizabeth played. She was a star at VPI, but was injured late in her senior/last year. She was picked in the 2nd round of the WNBA draft, but is still recuperating from her injuries.

Julia Kitley, Ralph’s mom, was a teacher, so education runs in the family, too.
I’m fairly sure I never met Ralph. He was away at school by the time I met his parents, I believe.

Re: Wake Forest admits the truth
My other Wake Forest connection was that I had a library card a couple times, which they gave for free to clergy. I lived in Winston-Salem in the late ‘70s. In the mid-‘80s when I was in northern Iredell County, I usually needed to visit hospitals in Winston-Salem, so I could check out books confident that I would be back in town in time to return them.
Wingate had a similar policy, so I had their library card in the early ‘80s.
I have had a Davidson library card, but it has lapsed. They give cards only to active (not retired) clergy, but I got mine as an alumnus. I haven’t needed to check anything out for a few years. I found they had an obscure book I had wanted to read for years. Used copies were available for hundreds of dollars, but Davidson’s copy was just there on regular shelves.

After reading that article I have to cheer for her.
