Re: Portal

I think I read that Lanier was relieved of coaching duties at SMU. Lanier is the new coach at Rice. Smart hire. https://riceowls.com/news/2024/3/24/rob-lanier-named-26th-head-mens-basketball-coach Andy Enfield is the new SMU basketball coach. Any opinion about his coaching? I’ve read about his back...

Jon Axel's little brother has entered the portal from Penn State. He has 3 years of eligibility. Don't know if Davidson ever had interest.

Re: Portal

There’s no reason for Skog to put his life on hold and delay graduation. If he can get somebody to pay for grad school, then good for him.

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread

And the figures for Des would have skewed toward the latter part of the season, I’d expect.

We have 2 scholarships tied up with Bailey and Logan. Tyson would compliment Durkin.

Re: Portal

That was quick. I know several folks who got graduate degrees at Rice. And a recent DU president had taught and administered there. If Emory plays there, perhaps I can find one of his games; obviously not so easy as it would have been in the ACC.

Brizzi would have been our starting PG next year, so I don't think the issue was playing time.
I think this is an assumption, not a guarantee.
A reasonable assumption given what we know now and have seen.

Re: Portal

I just confirmed that on ESPN site. Rats. I was looking forward to following them next season. Could Emory transfer back and use his last season?

Re: Another tournament WTF

I just got a text message from SMU inviting me to join the Mustang Club to help the transition to the ACC. I'm not ponying up this time, but I might check amounts out of curiosity.

Today there are games in Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Omaha, and Salt Lake City. The first game starts at 12:45 eastern. Naturally the NCAA and CBS chose to start with the Salt Lake City games. That means they are starting before 11 am local time.
But maybe more normal times back at players' schools.

I knew Greg from our both living here and of course from games and FBC. Thanks for posting links to the obituaries. There was a lot about him I hadn't known.

Re: Portal

NIL is a factor now and a big one. Honest programs can offer big dollars once someone is in the portal. The others will continue to offer it before an athlete declares an intent to transfer. This should be a huge weekend in the portal. We'll get down to just 16 teams left in the Dance. Hundreds of ...
