Re: Real pattern of success for Davidson hoops

Is/was the team young? Based on what I can find online, it looks like Skogman is 23. Huffman is 22, and will be 23 in July. Kochera graduated high school in 2020 and has played four years of college basketball. Bailey is a sophomore but turned 21 before the season began. Brizzi is 22. Moss graduated...

Re: Portal

My parents love to tell the story of when I was a toddler at an Easter egg hunt. I would stand and watch the other kids discover an egg, and then waddle over to look for my own egg in the same hiding place. That’s how I see our participation in the transfer portal frenzy. We’re looking for guys in t...

Re: It has come to this - Camelot is Gone

If you watch the clip, you’ll see that the person making that claim first defines “racism” and “racist” in a very different way from the way most people understand it. That’s the key to the whole thing. I personally don’t find it very helpful because drastically redefining a word invites confusion a...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread

ACC Championship features many players Davidson recruited to some degree. From NC State: DJ Horne, DJ Burns, Ben Middlebrooks, and Breon Pass. From UNC: Cormac Ryan.

Re: The Bright Side of Not Being in Brooklyn Now

This article (https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/newyork/news/police-suspect-bashed-man-over-the-head-with-a-metal-pipe-at-queens-subway-station/) from February 19 says 266 incidents of subway crime year to date (all of which are bad, of course, but not all of which are violent). For ease of calculation, l...

Re: The Bright Side of Not Being in Brooklyn Now

You can look at FBI data here: https://cde.ucr.cjis.gov/LATEST/webapp/#/pages/explorer/crime/crime-trend You can use the explorer tool to look at trends from 1985 (earliest year available) through 2022 (latest year available). Violent crime in the US has dropped dramatically since a high in 1990 or ...

Re: This Season - A Tale of Shooting (or Lack Thereof)

I’m not shocked if our dunks were down, but I’d see that more as a sign of the offensive system being broken by the bad outside shooting. It’s not like Davidson’s dunks have come from our players dunking over defenders—usually they come off of passes to an open guy in the lane.

Re: This Season - A Tale of Shooting (or Lack Thereof)

We finish the year at 31.375%. That's probably enough to finish better than 300th. Poor shooting (especially from three) seemed to clearly be the biggest problem this season. I don’t agree with the complaints I’ve seen about athleticism. Davidson has had a lot more success with teams that had athle...

Great choice to put a coda on this game and the season!
I just hope Travis shot better than we did.

Re: In Game: at St. Joe's

No one else could get more out of this young group of student athletes. You’re probably defining “throwing the players under the bus” differently than I am. For example, I consider the statement above to be an example considering the team just posted a losing record. Essentially “we posted a bad re...

Re: In Game: at St. Joe's

I am really worried that some of the lame excuses I’m reading on here are coming from the staff, who need to be owning the last two seasons and not whining about the world they live/work in or—especially—throwing their players under the bus. I worry about my memory as old age approaches (or has alr...
