Re: Up next: St Joe's

Not too long ago, we looked like we had 2 starters. Feczko was excellent in his start on Sunday. And we have some surprise options on the near horizon. Looking much better. I'm glad to see Feczko coming around. He was 10-1 his freshman season, and a member of the freshman All-American team. Last se...

Re: Up next: St Joe's

Cavanaugh pitched well, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks. Fix pitched better, giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk.

Team ERA is now 7.56, a vast improvement over the 10.00+ that we had about 3 weeks ago.

Re: Meanwhile, at CofC…

I just finished reading Among the Bros , the account of the drug culture that permeated the CofC Greek system in the decade up to 2018, and provided the leaders of the Atlanta and Charleston-based ring that distributed marijuana, Xanax, cocaine, and MDMA (molly) to fraternity houses all over the Sou...

Re: Up next: HPU

High Point just added one more run in the 9th on a walk, stolen base, balk, and wild pitch. 7-1 going to the bottom of the inning. It has not been pretty.

Re: Up next: HPU

So now Ed Hall and his 54.00 ERA and 5.25 WHIP enters the game to start the 6th. Hall has good stuff, but hasn't been able to get it over the plate. And he gets 3 outs on 8 pitches, 7 of which were strikes.

Re: Up next: HPU

Starter left when he walked a batter with 2 outs. Reliever gives up single, walk, single. 2-0, 2 on. Single, corners, 3-0. Finally got the 3rd out. I do not understand that decision. Baermann was pitching very well and had thrown only 55 pitches. He had allowed 1 hit and 2 walks in 3 2/3 innings, a...

Re: Up next: HPU

Weather delay at Wilson Field. It's not raining in Concord, but I heard some distant thunder 15-20 minutes ago, and it sounded like it was off the the west. Radar looks like Davidson will have a clear spell from about 6:30 - 9:00, so if there is no more thunder, we should be able to get in an offici...

We have 2 scholarships tied up with Bailey and Logan. Tyson would compliment Durkin.

Re: Up next: HPU

And I might add in Champey's defense, he looked really good against Charlotte, a far better team than Siena.

Re: Up next: HPU

I see signs that we're getting better. With the exception of Champey's disastrous outing yesterday, our pitching was pretty sharp this weekend, not in the sense of sweeping the #294 team in D1, but in the sense of throwing strikes and avoiding free passes by walks or HBP. Against Siena, pitchers not...

Re: Up next: HPU

Isaac Fix has been our mid-week starter, but he pitched the 6th inning tonight. Ordinarily, I would presume that he would not be available against HPU, but he only threw 8 pitches to get those 3 outs.

Check that. We are #255 in the RPI. Sweeping Siena dropped us 20 odd spots.
Just playing Siena probably dropped us 40 spots. Sweeping them at least gained some of those back. Let's don't schedule the Bad News Saints again.

Re: Up next: Siena

The good news for the Saints pitching staff is that with all the errors, only 9 of our 19 runs are earned. Sienna has allowed 13 hits, 5 walks, and 4 HBP, so the team's WHIP will suffer. Only 1 of our hits has been for extra bases.

Re: Up next: Siena

9 runs so far in the 2d. Siena is awful. Our runs came on 4 singles, 1 double, 2 errors, 1 BB, and 1 HBP. Still batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd.

Addendum: those 2 runners scored on the Saints' 3rd error of the inning. Now 11-1.
