Re: In Game: at St. Joe's
I was fortunate enough to sit behind the Arkansas bench when a very good Razorback team was playing in the NCAA first rounds. Nolan Richardson had a meltdown during a time-out when Arkansas was too unselfish - turning down open looks and over passing in hopes of a better shot. He made his point, em...

Re: In Game: vs. Loyola Chicago
If you want to know what they are doing that Davidson is not, I can show you most of it: Non-Conf App 10-3, SOS 170 WCU 11-2, SOS 186 Charleston 9-4, SOS 213 Davidson 10-3, SOS 160 Total SOS App 207 WCU 184 Charleston 238 Davidson 99 OOC everyone's in the same neighborhood. In conference, our road g...

Re: In Game: vs. Loyola Chicago
Historically, the shooting 35% from 3 would be considered an off year for Davidson. If nothing about this year's team changes except that, their kenpom rating is #2 in the A-10 instead of #10. Making 3s in games is a learnable skill, unlike height or arm length. If our guys spend an hour a day worki...

Re: In Game: vs UMASS
Reed shoots 80% on FTs - he has good shooting form and a good eye. It is very possible that if he spends an hour a day working on making 3s a part of his game that he wants to use, he could be better than Jake Cohen or Luka Brajkovic, given how much he's improved his game going to the basket this ye...

Re: In Game: vs UMASS
2) they do not have a single player capable of taking a jumper off the dribble. ....thoughts? I think Bobby has that ability. I agree. Once Durkin became a starter his usage and effectiveness actually declined. It seems like he may view himself as a third or fourth option when he's on the floor wit...

Re: Up next: Loyola
I don’t think anyone benefits from me being critical of the Cats, but yes I was implying that local knowledge of the Cats’ performance in close games might suggest a betting strategy

Re: Up next: Loyola
Numbers. Most rating algorithms like Massey or Kenpom use comparative scores and link all the games together to factor in strength of opponents. KP, for example, shows DC with a 58% chance against Loyola, 68-66, very close to Massey. Most oddsmakers use very similar algorithms. The Massey prediction...

https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-men/d1/ncaa-mens-basketball-net-rankings Dayton 16 Davidson 115 SLU 234 Our 2 best wins are 82 Maryland and 95 UNCC. Niners have lost 3 straight, so i imagine that their NET is dropping. A chance to get right against Rice and @ ECU to finish the regular seas...

Re: Bracketology
I know Dayton has been ranked a lot and their bracketology has been good, but 3rd in the A-10 with 4 conference losses? They might have to win the tournament to get in.

Re: Other scores
Sure, if he'd wanted to be here. Des was dissatisfied with his playing time when Grant and he were fighting for minutes. We signed Loughnane, Brizzi, and Durkin. Grant left to go to a place he could start and play 30+ minutes a game. Given that last year Des was starting and playing 30 minutes a ga...

You did. The same games are here, but you can see from the title why you didn't find it on the topic list.

Re: In Game: at Richmond
Kenpom's main measure is points per possession. The 61st ranking I referred to (59th now!) is adjusted for the offensive efficiency of our opponents, but is not that much different from the raw rating. He is showing the Cats at 1.006 points allowed per possession, which is 75th in the country. On of...

Re: In Game: at Richmond
I feel bad for this years team. Lot of effort but not much in results. A statistical observation: We are 102 in offensive efficiency ratings but 187 in defensive efficiency. Eyeball test indicates our problem is offense, stats say otherwise- though we’re not good at either one. What efficiency rati...

Re: Indoor Track A-10 Championships
I think flu, yes. Jayden Smith and Josh Hardin top the A-10 performance lists in the 60H and 400 for 24, but neither participated yesterday. Isaac Bynum still won the 60H for the Cats, but without Jayden and Josh the point totals were going to be very low. With those guys the Cats would have been in...
