Re: In Game: vs. La Salle

Maybe we should hire Gerdy as a shooting coach. I do not remember him missing much and I think his era was pre 3 point shot. We have Jack Gibbs on the staff. #7 on the all-time 3 point %age list at Davidson, right behind Hyunjung Lee and only a couple of points behind Steph Curry: Matt McKillop.

I will miss the game do to a work trip
Therefore Cats will win a home conference game
You are welcome
Unclear whether waitress should be allowed to check the score or not. Seeing a Cats lead and pulling up the game on ESPN+ is definitely off the table.

Other than Frank Ben Eze, to whom this award is dedicated, have we ever had another bench player come in and get 3 blocks? Adam even blocked a three ball right in front of the GMU bench. I'd call that pretty disruptive.
Sean Logan has done it 3 times this year.

Re: In Game: vs. George Mason

56-52 at 23.1 Did their last block look like a goaltend on TV? It did from my angle at courtside. On Reid from behind as he shot in front of goal? If so, no. Very close, but no way to say that is a goaltend. The shot from behind Reed showed that he let it go from above the rim, but it was blocked r...

Man, the announcer is heaping praises on Bailey, even as he has missed a couple of bunnies.
Come back Mac! You’ve wandered off again.

Re: In Game: at Loyola Chicago

Other notes about the 16-17 team players: Jack Gibbs, as I understand it, was not as heavily recruited as one might expect because of a knee injury in high school. He missed a stretch in 14-15 with an injury and I'm recalling that he played all of 16-17 with basically one arm because of a shoulder i...

Re: In Game: at Loyola Chicago

I was chatting with a Wildcat yesterday, trying to remember Oskar Mikelsen's name. My friend was complaining about the general decline in our roster in terms of athleticism. I pulled up the 2016-17 roster. Those guys would mop the court with the 2023-24 Wildcats. Study this roster for a moment: htt...

Re: This Season - A Tale of Shooting (or Lack Thereof)

This is THE key for Davidson basketball. This is our 10th season in the A-10 and we've made the NCAA tourney 3 times: 2015: 3 pt shooting % 38.7, 25th in the nation 2018: 38.9, 28th 2022: 38.5, 4th (line got moved back between 18 and 22) Given our athletic limitations noted in another thread, the Ca...

Re: Steph update

Middle of the 4th, W's up by 8, Steph trying to lock it down for his team and: 5:55 Jacob Gilyard blocks Stephen Curry 's 10-foot two point shot I'm guessing Jacob broke out the "too short" taunt after this. Also he made 5 3's to Steph's 4. I'll still take Steph. At least Gilyard has the good sense ...

Re: In Game: vs. Richmond

We had no answer for that pull-up jumper from the elbow. Matt talked about this in the post-game. It was a specific play where they would ball screen for King to go left, we’d cover that, and he’d turn around and go right back by the same screener to the right and we’d be lost. I couldn’t tell if h...

Re: In Game: at Fordham

I know everyone, most of all Reed, would prefer that he made more than 6 of the 20 FGs he attempted. But he did score 24 points and had 12 rebounds in the game. Luka Brajkovic, A-10 player of the year, had 2 career games with 24+ points. Both in his senior year. Tyler Kalinoski, A-10 player of the y...

Re: NIL: An Example

I laughed out loud when I read graveline’s post above. Then I read this article https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/39288631/ncaa-further-evaluate-proposal-where-schools-pay-athletes Wherein the president and chairman of the NCAA both say that they are looking to Congress to solve the pro...

Re: In Game: at George Washington

We have a Blue Ribbon Sports Analytics Department led by Dr. Chartier. One of our coaches needs to ask him, "What are our chances of winning when we're up 3 with 41 seconds to go and Sean Logan has just rebounded a missed free throw?" It has to be at least 65%. If the game is tied, it would be 50+%...

Re: In Game: at George Washington

Florida State got in trouble because their boosters arranged lucrative NIL deals for their athletes. If schools, coaches, and boosters cannot arrange NIL deals, who can? From reading the about South Carolina and listening to that NYT podcast, it appears that schools cannot directly pay players for ...
