John "Eddie" Haskell was our LF and clean-up hitter in 1980. He's now a poly-sci professor (at Georgetown I believe). A generation of DC alums who went to Chapel Hill for law school knew his father who was a professor there.

It is hard to win an ineffective assistance of counsel claim. Supposedly there was once a defense attorney who slept through most of a murder trial and was determined not to have provided ineffective assistance.

First time offenders in NC charged with relatively minor drug offenses are automatically eligible for deferred prosecutions. If he is willing to jump thru some hoops and stay out of trouble for a year he will be rewarded with dismissal of this charge. If he wants to he could then expunge his record....
