The simple fact is that every rigorous academic institution that also plays DI athletics takes that into account in the admissions process. I saw high school classmates of my daughters who were lacrosse All Americans get into Ivy League institutions with 1200 SATs. That is not smart enough to get a...

And we do the same at Davidson. Perhaps not to the same degree, but basketball and other sports get "academic consideration".

I'm interested in hearing more about why you think a lot of things were incorrect TiredCat88. A number of the athletic facts were incorrect. There are also a number of CAA official emails and documents to show that Davidson was never officially asked to join the CAA. Some things along those lines. ...

Although a lot of things were incorrect, I enjoyed the read and the attempt to explain Davidson athletics.

Let's just say that if he had of included those sports, the numbers wouldn't be any better.

I agree with some of these comments relative to conference affiliation. My question is "What made you think that moving to the A-10 made sense for any sport but men's basketball?" Because our President and Athletic Director stood at a podium in front of staff, athletes, alums and press and said tha...

Re: Conference

The question becomes whether the A10 is an "overreach" for Davidson. If so, does some other conference make more sense given the will and/or ability to support athletics at the A10 level. Currently, there would be very few conferences, DI, DII or DIII that we would be competitive in. Certainly none...

Will's scholarship is certainly something we should all thing about contributing to, however, this is about the lack of commitment by the institution to raise endowed funds for athletics in a big way. It started years ago, and the lack of commitment continues today.

Again, the question remains: Where are those promised schollies? Are you asking the college or the donors who presumably will give those scholarships? I think he's asking about the "promise" our President and AD made to our athletes and respective community when they sat at the press conference ann...

Pres. Quillen now has the distinction of presiding over perhaps the worst athletic program in America. And we have reached our nadir under her watch. As I mentioned before, she is all hat and no cattle. Talk is cheap. Under her watch, the basketball team has moved from one of the least successful l...

Not even close. My guess is that less than 35 athletes are on full athletic scholarship.

There is zero commitment. We have talked about funding athletics since at least 2001, perhaps earlier. Always false promises. We expect coaches to win and fire them when they don't - when they have no shot in hell of succeeding. Meanwhile we continue to talk - simply talk. We should have an AD that ...
