sad to see the o-meter put up on the shelf for the off season. Maybe we need a tempo-o-meter too. That seems just as telling if not more than dunks.

Dabo doubling down on his Ohio State 11th ranking.
Perhaps Clemson was supposed to be 12th?

It looks like he will remain a major gifts prospect for a long, long time.

I'm thinking of taking the Dunk-O-Meter out of service for a few days. It could take some abuse on Friday.
I believe the term is "regularly scheduled maintenance." :D

Re: Athletic Department Revenue and Expenses

ECU starting having trouble when three things happened pretty much at the same time - all personnel issues. Their long-time and highly respected chancellor retired. Terry Holland, who worked with Chancellor Ballard like hand-in-glove retired. And their lead fund raiser, who I know very well, also r...

I wasn't criticizing them. Just someone who didn't seem to understand that a Final Four soccer team would be a likely group to donate to a scholarship at their alma mater. They raised $700,000, which is $35,000 per player, but there were others contributing, so it is less than that per player. Fund...

I'd agree. Just reading through her blog notes from visiting teammates around the country, I was incredibly impressed with her voice, her ability to bring out discerning ideas from her subjects, and her grace in juxtaposing them into a compelling narrative. We shouldn't be too surprised--she's a Dav...

Many times when you think I have changed the subject, it means you missed my point. But that's OK. I hear from other board members that they enjoy when my comments obviously fly over someone's head. Always glad to amuse. A great homiletics prof at Emory used to say that what is shouted from the roo...

I'm six months out of my gig in College Relations, but in short, the college's goals for fundraising are based off of campaign priorities and budget needs. (And let me take a moment to tell you what a truly extraordinary job Davidson does with its annual fund. It's just insane.) How the college meet...

Funding a scholarship for your own kids doesn't sound legal, at least not for a tax deduction. Supporting a scholarship for just four years is not my idea of endowing a scholarship. Though CityCat has already clarified, it's worth pointing out that the IRS has a really big problem with a situation ...

Re: athletic Funding

Stevelee your questions make the assumption that we have tried certain avenues and that there exists a black or white response. Are there foundations? yes. Have we tried to solicit any? Don't know. Do we not try because we do not know the answer? Not in my blood to not try. Do other schools have th...
