Re: Up next: Bob's NC Hall of Fame Induction

Spoke to “Country Joe” West, former MLB umpire. Funny guy. His favorite manager was Dick Williams. Jim Nantz is a super nice guy. Steve Smith is a very humble guy. I used to play pickup football and basketball with Joe West. He had a great arm on the football field. It was a great event. Nantz had ...

Re: Up last: at George Mason

I hate to say this out loud, but it seems that some of our shaky pitching is coming around. We've had solid outings from Perkins, Weber, Champey, Katz, Fix, and Ban recently. It's good to have Cavanaugh back, but he obviously is not back to optimal form yet. We're still missing O'Shaughnessy and Cot...

Re: Up next: SBU

Champey pitched the last 2 innings, faced 8 batters, allowed 0 runs on 2 hits, 0 walks, and 0 hit batters. His best outing in recent memory, and a good confidence booster.

Re: Portal

Seems like he could stock the end of the bench with 5 really good low-major or D-2 players who would jump at the chance to play every now and then for a big-time Power 6 school that will undoubtedly make the NCAA tournament, money be damned. I doubt academics will be a problem, either, so they might...

Re: Up next: Rhode Island

We were A10 regular season champions 2 seasons ago, losing to VCU and Richmond in the tournament. Four players from that team (DeVos, Schomberg, Carico, and Wilson) are currently playing professionally. All of those players were recruited by Rucker Taylor. He is an excellent hitting coach, and our o...

Re: Up next: Rhode Island

Our Friday starter is superb. Our remaining pitching is spotty at best. Perkins is our most consistent starter, but calling him superb may be a little too strong. He has an ERA of 5.73, which is 19th in the A10. To his great credit, however, he has only walked 13 and hit 6 in 70.2 innings, which is...

And that was better than what Shedleski and Rosenfield did in the 8th. We're down two touchdowns.
I turned it off after the grand slam.

Up next: Rhode Island

Double header starts at 1:00 PM. Rain starts shortly thereafter.

Despite a 14-24 record, the Rams are #156 in RPI based on a decent SOS. Davidson sports a gaudy #239 RPI.

Cats walked over George Mason 17-4 yesterday in the first round of the A10 Tournament. They face #2 seed Richmond today at 3:00. The game will be on ESPN+. Richmond won the regular season game 7-15 six weeks ago.

Hunter Anderson made it 9-8 with a homer in the 7th. Still 9-8. Bottom 9...
Anderson also made spectacular over-the-shoulder catch at the fence in the bottom of the 8th.

Eli Putnam

Although the team is having a disappointing season, first baseman Eli Putnam is killing it. He currently leads the A10 in home runs (13), RBIs (47), and slugging percentage (.702). He is also 4th in batting average (.364) and 2nd in OPS (1.172). He has to be the front-runner for A10 POY.
