Re: Portal
Well please don't wonder! The effort is (or was) part of an overall strategic support of these international students. The host family program works! So please add host families from the broader Davidson community to your answer-tribute. +1 Host families are great for international students, and no...

Re: Wildcat Excellence Seating Fund
I was wondering about this myself. Last year we had to make the contributions by June 30. Some nonprofits I support end their year in June. It’s time for me to review what I’m going to contribute to what. If I can wait until fall to pay the seat license, then I might be more generous to some causes,...

Hoyt Wilhelm
My friend in Kansas posted on Facebook that Hoyt Wilhelm applied to and was admitted to Davidson, but chose to go for a pro career instead. He grew up on a farm in the area and played for Cornelius High School.

I made work-study money turning pages for Mr. Welsh when he played for Vespers. I also work one evening a week in the music library. Neither disqualified me as an amateur musician.

Re: It Could Be Worse
I was in grad school with a couple Birmingham-Southern alums. One summer my intern was a recent graduate who was heading for Duke Divinity School in the fall. Sharp folks. I’m sorry that the school has fallen on hard times.

Re: 2026 A10 Men's Tournament
I really enjoyed it the time it was in Pittsburgh. It is close enough to Ohio that families and former players could come conveniently. I really enjoyed meeting people and renewing acquaintances. The St. Patrick’s Day parade came early, viewable from the coffee shop on the hotel ground floor. We wer...

Nice looking gear, ugly prices. I'd be more likely to just buy regular gear and contribute some money to the collective. I bought a Durkin hoodie. I don't know that the price was out of line with at least some stuff at the school store. I've seen a few other folks in his gear, and some of Brock's f...

Re: Portal
If we simply accumulate enough NIL money to keep the high school players that we recruit when they get good enough to jump in the portal, I think we will be fine. In fact, the high school talent pool could be even more productive for us given that so many other programs are almost exclusively playi...

Re: Congratulations Matt Matheny
I lived in northern Iredell County 1984–1988. North Iredell was the local high school, and I think all of the kids in our youth group attended there. Being out in the middle of nowhere, our church had about the only functioning youth group, even though there were a few larger churches around. So we ...

The NC History Museum will close in the fall for remodeling. Tim Dwight and I took a train day trip and visited it and the Natural History Museum on Thursday. On a recommendation from a friend, we went to Clyde Cooper's Barbecue for lunch. The NC Sports Hall of Fame is housed in the history museum b...

Re: Newest Kool Aid recruiting thread
“It wasn’t hard to not focus on the individual because, as I’ve said multiple times, winning championships feels way better than becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer or reaching 2,000 points,” Coval said. “When you like your teammates, team accomplishments just feel better. When we won a d...
