In other news, we are now 70th in KenPom, 71st in Sagarin, 79 in NET, 39th in Massey, 75th in BPI, and 116 in T-Rank.
Massey and T-Rank are the outliers and ostensibly cancel each other out. |

The remainder of the December schedule should clarify where the Wildcats' rating should be. |

Quote: | •First, the A10. Yikes. Davidson stealing a third bid for the conference papered over a very bad 2018 season that isn’t being discussed enough. The decline is related to a few things – the Butler, Xavier, and Temple departures hurt, but those were six years ago. Traditionally strong programs like Saint Louis, UMass, and George Washington have gone into the tank recently. The conference has seen several strong coaches leave in recent years (Will Wade, Archie Miller, Mike Lonergan) and other unsuccessful ones get replaced. Things came to a head this past season as Dayton, VCU, and St. Joe’s all finished outside the KenPom top 100 for the first time since they’ve all been in the conference. There’s concern that this is the new normal, as this year doesn’t project to be good either. You might find a ray of hope in the fact that there’s not a ton of senior talent across the conference (Otis Livingston, Javon Bess, and Josh Cunningham are the senior stars on what figure to be contenders) so the A10 may have a renaissance in the 2019-2020 season. |
That's pretty sobering. _________________ "We should've thrown our number 7 pitcher against Davidson......" Post by Tar Heel baseball fan 16 minutes into the game. |

I am with stan to some extent. Any numbers crunching today seems kind of stupid. If he wants to say that one set of numbers is even worse, I'm on board. |

That chart does not include this season, so there is no "numbers crunching today" involved. If you want to say that those numbers are irrelevant today because the NCAA has changed the parameters, you may be right, but I doubt it. _________________ "We should've thrown our number 7 pitcher against Davidson......" My take was simply that the numbers for the A10 are damn ugly. The trend is not our friend. No way to spin it to make it look any less ugly. _________________ "Then they started making 3s. A lot of 3s. We're talking more 3s than a bad dating site." |

Yep.... the league is definitely going in the wrong direction. |

But , , , but . . . the other conclusion that you can draw from looking at all of these charts is that we are not alone. Essentially, what these charts describe is a consolidation at the top among 3-4 conferences.
That doesn't change the reality of the A-10 but rather makes it clear that the A-10 is not doing anything especially bad compared to other conferences. All of the conferences outside the Power-5 are facing an increasingly difficult test to get multiple teams into the Dance.
The A-10 needs many more nights like tonight before January for the conference to be positioned better for multiple bids. Our lads could help with a couple of well-timed upsets. I think they are capable, and I am looking forward to it. _________________ "He scores 30 points and he thinks he can call me Bob." |

I'd still take the A-10 over the Southern any day of the week... |

Can't argue that. The Southern is on a rise, and the A10 is in decline, but the SoCon still has a long way to go to be consistently competitive with the A10. _________________ "We should've thrown our number 7 pitcher against Davidson......" Post by Tar Heel baseball fan 16 minutes into the game. |

A big and obvious A-10 problem has been crazy coaching turnover. Bob McKillop is near the top in coaching tenure and he's been in the league for 4+ seasons. |

Two sides to that: The league has attracted successful coaches. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |
