San Diego travels to play Nicholls State. The Torreros have a good chance to win that game.

Wofford hosts Elon. They are the only schools from NC and SC in the playoffs. ETSU is in the playoffs for the first time since restarting their program.

Incarnate Word is in the playoffs for the first time. They're in the Southland Conference.

The Missouri Valley Conference was the best FCS conference according to the rankings, but its members beat up on each other and too many ended up 6-5. 6-4 was not a disqualifying record. Elon and Incarnate Word were 6-4. Elon lost a game to Hurricane Florence.

USD vs Nicholls State will not be close. Different level of athlete.
38-10 Nicholls.

San Diego won first round playoff games on the road in 2016 and 2017.

Nicholls lost a first round game at home last year. Badly.

It should be close, but not if the Colonels fold up like they did last year.

In 2017 they also lost to Texas A & M --- by 10 points!
USD Defense will look like it went thru a Waring blender - let me revise my forecast ---
50-10 Nicholls State.

Nicholls lost to South Dakota at home in the 2017 playoffs.

Didn't A&M fire their coach after the 2017 season?

I agree with SanteCat that Nicholls State will win, but they won't blow them out.

35-21 final

That's pretty close to what Massey says.

What does Massey have the game at? I figure 3 touchdowns for San Diego and probably outscored by 1-2 touchdowns by Nicholls

It looks like you or Massey peeked at the other guy's paper. 20-37.

No, just lucky on this one I guess. I rely on you for Massey numbers. Their numbers are put together by some formula or algorithm, while my prediction was simply 3 touchdowns for San Diego and 5 touchdowns for Nicholls.

My formula - SD=3, N=5

(N*7)=(S*7)

Very complicated and time consuming mathematical theory. My mistake is I should have counted +3 for one of them since I'm sure someone will kick a field goal, but that would have taken too much thought.

49-30 Colonels. Mike Barbaro is happy, even if Davidson's Sagarin and Massey ratings are not.

As underperforming as many of the Patriot League teams are, they might be willing to go home and home with us.
