As I said yesterday, I was out of ideas, but one popped up courtesy of the internet. I saw a reference to my elder son making E-8 in the Air Force and emailed my congratulations.
After a few back and forth posts, he reminded me that his #3 son is scheduled for Marine Corps Boot Camp at Parris Island early next year. We now will have all the services covered in his family tree.
We talked about the rigors of boot camp. I sent him a link to a video from San Diego.

I used to tell The Boss she should use that methodology to keep her 4th and 5th graders in line.
But his son has been a wrestler and is in good shape. He spent several years in NJROTC so he at least knows how to march. But my son is not impressed by those things.
Before I give you his final opinion, I need to tell you a bit about his wife, who I will call “Jane†for these purposes.
In the age old pattern of spouses separated by the military, she was often alone raising their three sons as Uncle Sam sent her husband to two wars and some other deployments, as well as various schools and far away duty stations.
She is one strong lady, and she took that job seriously. There was no slack around that house, as she kept the boys in line. She also spent a lot of time dealing with the military bureaucracy while my son was away, and was a leader of the dependents.
So it was with great respect, and no negative thoughts at all when he sent me his final comment.
“That boy survived “Janeâ€â€¦ The Marines can’t break him… I have no worries.â€
Go Cats!

The university isn't named for the chicken company. Do we want to give them locker room bulletin board material?

Great story, Bob. Don't know.if I ever told you, but my wife's mother and father were both Marines. She grew up living in and around Marine Corps bases. In my house, she gives the orders, and I say, "Yes, Ma'am".
GO CATS! Be right there, MrsMac.... |

Much better first four minutes than yesterday. Getting good looks, solid defense and limiting Purdue to one shot aside from the last possession. |
