Mixer.

Forty-plus years later, that's still the first thing I think of when I hear the word Queens.

Wednesday, 7 pm. ESPN+. Massey says it's #855 at #202, 99% chance of victory, 79-48. Queens competes in NCAA D2.

The good news for the Royals is that they return 5 of their top 6 scorers, including 5-9 G Lade Adepoju, 17 ppg, 7 rpg. They also get back a 5-11 redshirt who averaged nearly 8 ppg two years ago. And there's a 5-6 transfer guard who started a number of games while at Old Dominion. Plus they've added five freshmen to their roster.

The bad news is that they finished 4-22 last season. 44% 2FG, 28% 3FG, 68% FT. Minus 6.7 rpg, minus 5 topg. Some improvement seems likely.

Go Cats!

Excited to see how the new players look and the returners have developed since March. Wonder what the lineup will look like. Guessing:

Fitzgerald
Turner
Gould
Lyon
Donovan

Most of my projected starting lineups have Ally in them.

My Davidson memories of Queens center on their students banging on the doors of our dorm rooms trying to sell doughnuts for a supposed fundraiser. They must not have taught cost accounting there because it's hard to see how you could pay for the doughnuts, drive them 25 miles, and sell them at a profit.

Ursa Mid-Major had a brilliant idea and took doughnuts to the Queens campus once. Maybe he'll remind us what happened. (He was already in Charlotte when the thought came to him.)

Got the chance to see the women practice last night.

Great intensity and definite improvement from last season.

Team definitely looks ready for Wednesday night.

Guessing my projected lineup is at least 50% correct but probably not 100% correct.

Odds are that there's between a 50% and 75% chance that your lineup is 60% correct.

The kids are already screaming at A10 action today. Duquesne trails TCU at the half, 27-18, in Fort Worth, TX.

Derek's coverage is set to begin at 6:45 pm. However, the ESPN+ links to specific games generally haven't been available until just before the game, so playing that by ear.

Projected starting five from the game notes: Kianna, Katie, Sarah D, Cassidy, Ally

From the A10 website, here's the direct link to our game:

http://www.espn.com/watch/_/id/9aeacb88-db9f-4d42-9e87-e0dfdeba630b/queens-nc-vs-davidson?DB_OEM_ID=31600

7 pm, it says, so not overly optimistic about getting that extra 15 minutes of Derek Smith.

Game notes starters affirmed by Twitter and Live Stats: Kianna, Katie, Sarah D, Cassidy, Ally

And here we go... Queens switching between 2-3 zone and man. Cats picking up full-court, falling back into man.

3:26, 15-10, Cats. Alana and Kelly now in the game. Cats are 4-6 from deep, controlling the boards, and still looking to force the issue on D. Queens has some quickness.

End of 1st qtr, 25-15. Cats are 6-8 from deep. Katie has 3 of those for 9 pts. All nine available Cats have played. 7 assists on 8 buckets.

2nd qtr, 5:13. 31-21, Cats have cooled off a bit. Katie in double figures with 11, Cassidy has 7. Sarah has 4 rebs and 3 asts.

3:52, 31-25. Carelessness with the ball leading to easy buckets for Queens.

Halftime, 35-25. Cats have given the ball away 14 times. Ugh. Queens playing hard, though, give them some credit. Katie and Cassidy still leading the offense with 11 and 7, respectively. Sarah D has 7 rebs and 4 asts. Cassidy causing chaos, she has 3 steals.

Davidson has missed its last 6 threes, after making 6 of 8 to start the game. Plus 3 on the boards, 10 assists on 11 buckets, 7-8 from the FT line.

Printed program has not updated the class for all the players. Katie Turner, for example, is listed as a freshman.

That first half was bloody horrible.
