Here are the Massey ratings for all the FCS and FBS teams: https://www.masseyratings.com/cf/fcs/ratings
That's 125 D1 teams. We aren't last. We're #122. We aren't even last in the PFL. Marist is #123. The PFL owns 6 of the bottom 11 spots. When you add in the non-D1 teams, Davidson is #418. Big improvement over recent years. There aren't even 300 non-D1 teams ahead of us. At the start of the season, our Massey number was 562. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. I think we can beat Savannah State...and a few others "uplist" from us too. |

Not even close to DFL now. We're #119 of the 125 FCS teams. In the Pioneer, we are ahead of Marist, Morehead, and Valpo. Overall, we have jumped to #388. We trail all of the 130 FBS schools, 118 of the 125 FCS schools, and just 137 non-D1 teams (only 9 D3 schools are ahead of us). It has been a long time since we were this high up in the Massey numbers.

We're #254 in the Sagarin rankings this week, one up from the bottom. Mississippi Valley State is #255.
Given we have only played 2 FCS games, our ranking has little material to work with. We have 2 home games in a row and could crawl up the rankings the next 2 weeks.
Jeff Sagarin's cats are safe for this week and probably for the rest of the season. |

We're up to 252 this week in the Sagarin ratings. We're next to last in the PFL and there are 2 SWAC teams below us.
We have played the easiest schedule in FBS & FCS this season. Now that we have the experience and confidence to beat DIII and underfunded DII teams, we can schedule a scholarship FCS team for the $.
If Valparaiso and Jacksonville will beat other PFL teams, our rating will improve. |

If it was much more than a tank of gas and lunch at the Jarrett House, I'd be truly surprised. _________________ The artist formerly known as Freehold. |

Our former administration didn't negotiate "money" games well, so I agree with James - probably not much.
If I recall correctly, we got $0 from Princeton and $30,000 from The Citadel (going rate was $100k).
I think we have road games against Georgetown and Campbell next year. Not sure if they are returning. I would hope so. _________________ "I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter."

There was discussion of the Campbell game last season in the Fastbreak Club before a game. It was believed Campbell is paying us to play them in Buies Creek.
If we play Georgetown, it is probably a renewal of that series. Georgetown draws poorly, so they don't generate much revenue. When my family attended the famous 1999 game, admission was free. So was the National Zoo.
There is a 2019 Georgetown schedule listed on Hoyasaxa, a fans' website about Georgetown sports. It only lists 7 games, none before 9/28. A Davidson game is not listed, but they need 3-4 more games.
A series with Gardner Webb might make sense. If they brought some fans, we'd do as well as we would if they paid us for a game. |

Campbell is about 15 minutes from my house and my daughter's alma mater. I would really like to whip those Baptists next year _________________ Let's go Mens |

I don't like playing either Campbell or Georgetown. Campbell is going the wrong direction with scholarships but no brand and Georgetown has no support.
If I was "King AD of the Day" (which I am not) I would work hard to get teams on the schedule who have solid attendance. I liked WCU, Citadel, VMI, etc. I would almost sell our soul to get some Ivys to play us especially if we can bring them down here. I think if you can show southern recruits that we regularly play Ivy league schools maybe the better recruits may forgo attending up north and come to Davidson instead.
If we continue our success and want money I would love to play Richmond or William & Mary. If you want big money I think you are going to have to schedule App, Wake, James Madison, and maybe ODU. However, I dont know if we can ever hang at that level. _________________ "They were energized by this move to the A-10. How could you not be?" McKillop said. I'm sure the Campbell and Georgetown deals were done based on past experiences and legacy relationships. Now that we are an offensive juggernaut we may can add some of the other schools you mention. I like the idea of Ivy League schools and institutions like VMI and Citadel. No way on ODU or App IMO. |
