I now realize I've seen nothing.

I'm ok with that.

Yes, I'm not even in the neighborhood with "strong enough."

Hey, David, I'm missing your point. Mine is that I think guacamole looks like the green mushy poop that I see in the diapers of newborns, so I can't bring myself to eat it. That's all.

I walked 100 yards in their shoes and then went to a lot of basketball games.

We don't try hard enough. Collectively we are too 'smart' to think marketing actually works.

I think that the marketing team does an amazing job given the location, the size of the student body and their budget. Here is the reality for me.

Davidson College has 2,000 students. The composition of the student body is much different than in years gone by. The percentage of students attending basketball games is declining? If so, no surprise. Today there is a vastly different student body composition compared with the 1960s and 1970s and beyond. I would guess the percentage of student interest in attending men's basketball games has dropped over the past 20 years with the exception of the Steph years. That is just the reality of the 2018 college student at an elite, small liberal arts college.

It is unlike a UNC student body where a percentage decline in student attendance does not really affect attendance for all the obvious reasons. First? There is a 20,000 pool of students (undergrad and graduate). Second, there are thousands of new alums every year. This is not the case at DC.

Without the D Block anchoring down the student section, there is much less energy in the crowd. They are missed. They are, however, a small part of the overall student body and not their duty to anchor the crowd. IMO.

Some of the energy comes from local school students....Thank goodness, for example, for the loyal support of Davidson Elementary School students, teachers and families through the years!

The young kids and college kids drive the energy and noise. No one is going to get the plus 40 year old crowd (pick a number....plus 30?) to stand up and do cheers apparently. It is plenty cool and loud usually when every one sings Sweet Caroline. But after that? If there are not young people and students driving the energy and noise...it is what it is.

This is a small town and a small College. I think the attendance is pretty good given all the factors. This is not Dayton, Ohio.

I do agree with the poster who suggested more fan cam!!!
Other than that. My praise and applause goes to the marketing team!!!

And Davidson College basketball? It is AWESOME!

Go Cats!

Maybe we can just hire some deplorable UNCC fans to switch colors and wear RED for big games, earn free ticket and ten bucks, watch and cheer a winning team.

My point is that nothing like that disgusts me. Guacamole looks like newborn poop? Big deal. If it tasted like guacamole, I'd eat green mushy baby poop.

If we enter January with a record of 12-1 and a #24 next to our school’s name on the tv broadcast, I bet we will sell plenty of tickets for when Duquesne comes to town on 1/5/19. Of course there are a number of other things that can be identified and worked on for the long term, but nothing puts butts in seats like winning basketball games and having the guys on tv get excited about your players. We are already off to a great start in both of those respects, let’s hope our boys can keep it up.

The great thing about walking a mile in somebody's shoes is, you have their shoes and you're a mile away.

Probably not. Our early January attendance is typically poor. Duquesne won't draw many fans. We'll pick up when the students get back and the days start getting a little longer.

I lived south of Charlotte 1998-2002. I made it to a game or two a year. Traffic was bad, but nothing like today. I can't fault too much those who find it more convenient to attend games in Charleston than to drive to home games. (I'm not making that category up, based on conversations at the tournament pre-game gathering.)

I moved to Catawba County in 2002. I could get here at non-peak times rather conveniently. I got to know my high school classmate Betty much better in 2004 when we started having more class get-togethers, and she and I would come to the Western Carolina games here for sure. Also, in 2004 I had closed on my house here, so I could come and go at times when NC 150 and I-77 weren't parking lots. Usually the backup into Mooresville on 150 was the main problem during daylight hours. Opening more exits between 30 and 36 seems to have helped, or at least given alternatives.

The trip from Cramerton wasn't bad, and my work schedule was more manageable. I still listened to some games on the radio while driving. Of course then retiring just across the woods from the arener and buying Universal tickets changed everything.

Maybe when people realize that if they bring enough folks they can drive in the toll lanes for free, that might bring in a few extra folks.

UNCW had a decent student turnout on Saturday. They were all given t-shirts and rally towels were in their seats. There was a promotion where 50 of them won a bus trip and ticket to the UNC game on Wednesday, and they had to be present to win. The students didn't seem too concerned about finals.

If we roll in to January with a record of 12-1, the number next to our name better be better than 24.
