If you sit near me I would be more than willing to share all of the analytical reporting and analysis on early returns I get from five thirty eight and other statisticians.

Appreciate it. Unfortunately, this is a “client expects me to be someplace” situation.

One non-DI school on the schedule doesn't bother me. We need a game post exams/pre-Christmas to keep the guys sharp.

It's an almost impossible task to find teams to play at home, especially at that time of year.

I am guessing it's a 75% cost savings as well.

Game will be at noon on 12/22.

Thought this was interesting article to read, not related to Davidson, but I am sure in other ways related.

Reminds me of another recent article on CBS that I also thought was an interesting read. How much do you just try and work within the current system vs try and change it: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/mid-major-coaches-need-to-stop-complaining-and-start-adapting-to-college-basketball-realities/

These articles make some good points, but I think they assume coaches have more power than they do in the scheduling process.

Pretty much every power conference has a rule that won't allow their members to play more than 2-3 away non-conference games, and the AD's push strongly to only schedule other power conference teams for $ome rea$on.

And once you reach the upper tiers of mid-majordom, power teams won't buy one-off games from you anymore because they don't want to lose buy games.

So what are the alternatives? Schedule neutral site games with teams like Temple, and home-and-home series with teams like Nevada. Frankly we have done the best we can do, and I think so has Loyola.

The problem is that the power conferences are setting up a system (cartel?) where the best mid-major schedule can't hold a candle to an average power conference schedule. And I think it will continue as such until/unless the NCAA gets involved which I find to also be unlikely for $ome rea$on.

would you have supported a game against LC? Or does Davidson not stand to "win" that much from that type of game, relative to playing "Dartmouth"

Per our team website, the UNC game will take place at Noon and be broadcast on ESPN2, and the Wake Forest Game will take place at 7 PM on ESPNU. I don't believe this information was announced previously.

Wow! That will be a great opportunity for our coaches to scout CPC.

Thought this was interesting... definitely helps to get national exposure...

https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/college-basketball-schedule-the-21-top-non-conference-games-in-november-and-december/

Dec. 29: Davidson vs. North Carolina
Location: Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill

The loss of Peyton Aldridge stings for Davidson, but incredibly, Bob McKillop has another star on his hands in Kellan Grady, the leading returning scorer from last year's team. Grady, as a freshman last season, averaged 18.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game behind Aldridge. He'll slip into the No. 1 role with ease this year, and a shot to play UNC on its home court could produce a big-time performance. He averaged 23.5 points over his final eight games last season, and should easily pick up where he left off.

Not this year but from Jon Rothstein:

“Sources: The Mountain West has voted in favor of an annual Atlantic 10-Mountain West Challenge. Atlantic 10 will meet and decide in the next few weeks.”

As expected, Northeastern won. Alabama looked bad against ASU and sounded confused today. I was surprised by how easy it was for Northeastern, though.

Purdue is real.
