Remember last year how Jag would drive to the hoop totally out of control but occasionally make some circus shot as he fell out of bounds? I’m not sure we’ve seen that yet this year. He is in control, drawing contact and finishing.

Luka whips that ball out of the post.

Good to see Luke make some shots. He had three more go halfway down. One of these nights he’s gonna go off for 30. And will still probably draw a charge or two.

Kellan did a a couple NBA looking things tonight.

Sure, Charlotte is bad. But we steadily built a lead, never let them have hope and looked like a 6-1 team. That was pure kool-aid.

Dont get ahead of yourself, UNCW on the road is the definition of a trap game.

For me this is the niners. For a LONG time they were on another level than us. Better team, better confrence, better arena. Sure occasionally we had Peter Anderer Eurasian fire and stole a game, but that didn’t change the reality that they would go to play a ranked Cincinnati team while we played in front of 750 disinterested cadets at the citadel. The something (or something’s) happened. They bungled things with Bobby lutz. They put all their focus on football (with an arrogance that they were far too good for app state or the like). They completely screwed the pooch with confrence shuffles. Meanwhile we took our lightening in a bottle to pull ourselves up by the bootstraps to the A10, a league the niners were once in as well. Now here we are. The ninernation crowd is too busy blaming the some combination of the observer, the uncsystem, Judy rose, and others for their own students and alumni’s lack of engagement. They still think this is 2003 and they are rollling off 5 straight NCAA tourney appriances. And they look at us like mecklenburg county’s little brother. Meanwhile, I am secure in the knowledge that their freshman #30 is probably wearing that number in deference to a davidson alumni

ps: I waited untill after the game to post this as I have battered spouse syndrome with the niners due to the years 1996-2006, inclusive

You are reimagining Hall of Fame posts, my friend.

Maybe if the game is outdoors.

One of the great things about this board is getting the perspective of DU grads from different eras. I had very little DU info from 1975 to 2000, law school, raising a family, building a career, no internet. It's fascinating to read about UNCC being the Mecklenburg County bully. In the 1971-75 period it was beneath our dignity to play the crap commuter school that was UNCC (Actually I may have played against them on the club football team-don't tell Terry).Wofford was the warm up Scoobie snack, then onto the big boys. And Wftc no Collie Fuckmeister jokes.

68-69 is the answer, and 63-64 before that.

Yes. Have noticed this since I joined....I think?

It has never sprung forward for me, so it is always good ole EST year-round here.

The day that our actual and virtual clocks fell back, was the closest that clock time and sun time will get to each other here in Davidson this year, about seven minutes off. They were right together briefly somewhere around Siler City and points due north and south, I think.

Now that my watch displays the phases of the moon, I don't need to look at the sky. That is except when I turn on the Wildcat face, which I do for games and on-campus events.

No one scored in the final 1:29, leaving the total stubbornly at 132.

The O/U was 133.

Is there an explanation floating out there about what happened to D-Block?

From what I've heard, the last football coach often scheduled team events during basketball games. That, and apparently Phi Delt got in trouble a few years back and has subsequently done less overall.

Some of our people are anti-fun. Harassing D Block, stealing fans' signs at the Tarhole game, throwing a swimmer out for stripping down to his uniform. We seem to be content with quiet, boring crowds.

Charlotte fans should be excited. They have a few nice players. That freshman, Cooper Robb, can really play. I also liked Dravon Mangum and Milos Supica. I think they played to the limit of their abilities.

I found the comment on their board about our taking many more free throws interesting considering that reality turned out to be the opposite, more or less. We were 10 for 10 from the line, and one player of theirs was 9 for 10 by himself. (And I didn't remember seeing him miss.)

I'm proud of our guys for 100% shooting, even if relatively few shots. And admittedly the players wouldn't have felt as much pressure as in closing moments of a two-point game and the like.

Graveline’s post referencing the UNCC fan dislike of the Observer reminded me of something that I find interesting. In every story, both pre and postgame, written in the Observer over the past several years there is a reference to the all time series record. In fact, I know it by heart because I read about it multiple times per year. 28-17. It has been that way going back to the beginning of the current winning streak, as that 28-11 number was constantly talked about.

I can’t think of a single other rivalry in sports that I know the all time record of off the top of my head, and I can’t think of the last time I saw a story in a newspaper that discussed it. And yet David Scott’s postgame story tonight that is already on the Observer’s website mentions right at the top that Davidson has six straight wins in the series, though UNCC leads overall 28-17. The question I have is why? Why is that information so important that it gets brought up over and over again in a way that isn’t done for other rivalries?

I guess it is to keep Fortywhiner fans from bugging the Observer writers too much.
