Bob McKillop on WHIP in pre-game interview spoke directly to the matter; so it is out there. |

We do not have a video staff. We are running video on hourly part time/game only employees.
You get what you pay for.
Nothing would please the athletic department more than to be given the money to hire 2 or 3 full time video people that would get us close to what other schools have.
Our people do an amazing job on a shoe string budget. _________________ www.DavidsonPhotos.com

Got confirmation of Mike's injury via PM with the further insight that Coach discussed it during his pre-game interview - so it is out there with nothing to conceal from this season's opponents.
Best of luck MJ for your return stronger than ever, as Luke is doing right now. _________________ All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for men of good will to do nothing. Eddie Burke

It always seems that Davidson struggles doing things that other schools do easily. Why have video boards but no staff to run replays? It would seem that we could find students who might be interested in gaining this experience in order to break into the field after graduation. Someone made hefty donations to have the boards installed and it would seem to be common sense that a school with the "smarts" of Davidson could figure out how to utilize them. If you what to fill up the arener, you need to give a quality game experience. _________________ "They were energized by this move to the A-10. How could you not be?" McKillop said. Both looked healthy and physical! The finishing will get better as they shake off rust.... all in all, their play had me estatic. |

They do replays during time outs and extended stoppages.
Some rank speculation: maybe the failure to replay injuries and questionable calls is by rule. I can't recall any similar replays in any of the A-10 road arenas in which I've seen games, and I'd probably notice such things based on my skewed perception. |

Would be grateful for a similar pm with an update, I wont be able to search around for the pre-game interview for while.
Received an update, thanks for the messages.

6. Why have a video board if you are not going to show replays?? I know Davidson tries to be nice but Frampton got clobbered on a pick and I wanted to see how he was hit......no replay. Kellan almost made a great inbounds steal but he came down weird and was rubbing his calf......no replay. Quit being so PC. A couple of called walks on the Cats looked bogus....no replay. |
Couldn't make the opener--soccer trophy night for the kiddos--but I think the entire point of the video replay is to keep the crowd in the game and on your team's side. If you're watching a TV broadcast, and seconds after a controversial call you hear an eruption from the crowd, you know that what happened was they put the replay on the board.
I don't know if there are rules about what replays you can show or how soon you show them, but I'd assume anytime the refs go to the scorer's table to review a play you can show it on the big screen. It might not make sense to have every replay.
And this is possibly also a staffing issue--replays don't magically happen. You have to have people who are working the cameras, working the editing bays, working the production. You're producing a live television show, too. DC might not have enough folks to do it all. |
For how many years will this be used by the College as an excuse? |

Dusan looked very confident out there last night. There didnt seem to be much hesitation. That was great to see. Behind the back bounce pass for a layup was probably my favorite play of the game.
Lights were better - not as dark on the west end any more.
Sad crowd for the opener for returning A10 champs for a program that is run by the right people who do things the right way and not to mention probably the least expensive ticket for quality CBB you can find. I hate to say it but recruits decisions, for better or worse (especially this generation) are impacted by things like this. Belk Arena when filled is a loud, intimidating place to play. Last night, the arena was MAYBE 40% full. |

Can we reallocate the staff who do the video replays on TV (during live game action) to doing them on the jumbo tron?
I'd much prefer not to watch a replay of a highlight when it means I miss the next highlight in live action. _________________ The basic entrance fee to being a good person is to listen to and believe people who lack a privilege you have. |

We should have a football video board. We could have boards at other venues. Then we could justify the expense of full time employees because they would be needed year round. |

In the arener, just about every time I look at the big board to see player stats, they cut away to a Chevrolet ad or something. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

I forget the big screen is there. I did notice on the scoring they kept putting the wrong player in between CC #24 and Ki #20. |

It would be interesting to compare the %full with other schools when playing easier opponent in the first weeks of the season. I suspect the nature of the opponent (expected victory margin) and the fact that it was played on a weeknight that also happened to be the day of election midterms probably contributed to the size of the crowd. While it may be better Friday night, I suspect the weakness of the opponent will again keep the size of the crowd down. |
