I seem to remember many naysayers when the topic of the triple option was brought up back then, but I'd never say "I told you so".

Go Cats.

I have always loved throwing the football, but I came to realize that if Davidson wants to be competitive, the option is the way to go.

Kickoffs will be a thing of the past at all levels very soon.

The kick off rule changes are dumb. Very few people get hurt on punts. Move the players up to the 45 and there will be less violent collisions. The players will then cover kickoffs like punts.

Kickoffs, it is a good thing. What is new on punts? I have not noticed a change.

There is nothing new on a punt, that is my point. The players typically run 40 yards to cover the punt. There are a couple of bumps and bruises but no catastrophic injuries.

On the kickoff the players start their run from the 30 and either get exhausted and hurt when they reach the 20 or if they are in great shape have built up way too much speed and the collisions are massive. I think if they are moved up to the 45, the blockers will engage them earlier and slow them down or the returner will fair catch just like a punt.

If we lose the kickoff we will also destroy the fun of an onside kick. Crying or Very sad

I think they will still have onsides kicks. Most of the time you know when they are coming anyway.

I ran 3 miles earlier in the day, believe I repeated the feat during last nights game.

Funny thing happened at the end of the Twilight Zone game. Guilford was about to score a touchdown, but fumbled into the end and the Cats recovered. The head coach for the Quakers was complaining to the head official(Sink's favorite ref), instead of saying he made the error, he said, "We were waiting on the box man." Your's truly was the box man in the second half. Cool He threw me under the bus. 😂 I started to say something but the line judge says, " Hush, he can't get mad at you."

That guy wasn't nearly as funny last night. Maybe the long runs left him winded enough that only had enough air for the basics.

Guilford's QB is Alex Manley. There was a famous Alex Manly in NC in 1898. I don't think Guilford's Manley is related.

Gonna be damp.

Understatement.

Currently damp and a light breeze in Mooresville. We had some 30 mph gusts last night, but we still aren't up to 1/4" of rain. The Mooresville forecast is calling for up to 1/2" of rain today and then 2-3" tonight. The wind and rain are worse in Charlotte and folks not far to our east are having terrible weather. I'm very glad we played the game on Thursday. Great decision by Davidson.

Today has been a lot like a nice April day in Davidson.

But Thursday night was much better for the game, and we don't have people out on the road late tonight.

And our friends from Guilford aren't quaking about getting home. Great decision.

I had them in mind as well as the fans.

Well I live 18 miles east of you, and I just emptied 3" from our rain gauge, my back yard has standing water, the downspouts are draining steadily, and we are just getting started. I fully expect another 6+ inches over the next 12 hours. The Weather Channel has now added "biblical" to their collection of adjectives used to describe the rain in eastern NC. I'm still waiting to hear "apocalyptic." I'm ready for this to be over.

That's not surprising. There has been a lot more rain and wind just southeast of us so far. I got the impression that we were just on the edge here. As the storm heads west, we will start getting the northeast side of the storm and could have another 3-10 inches by Tuesday and 45 mph gusts. The last forecast I saw had the serious rain starting here in about an hour, and winds are already 17 mph with an advisory through 8 am. Even without radio or TV on, I am not hearing any rain or wind noise as of yet.

I was in Asheboro when Hugo came through. It was somewhat to our west. About 3 am the wind woke me up. I never lost power. I won't be surprised to be awakened by either wind noise or torrential rain tonight. If the power goes off, the alarm on the computer's backup battery will probably wake me, and I'll shut things down while there still is some charge left.

I'm about to head back into the den and turn on the Weather Channel.

Stay safe.
