I wonder what Smilin' F would think of this:

In this article, I seek to bring into conversation ideas from ethnomathematics (including Western mathematics), postcolonial theory, aesthetics, biology, and Indigenous knowledge in order to propose a new vision for practicing mathematics, something I refer to as mathematx. I do so in order to promote interaction between different knowledges, different ways of knowing, and different knowers. I build upon the work of sustainability in mathematics education and suggest we need to think not only about more ethical ways of applying mathematics in teaching and learning but question the very nature of mathematics, who does it, and how we are affected by that practice. I introduce the concepts of In Lak’ech, reciprocity, and Nepantla to suggest we learn from other-than human persons, which, in turn, may change our relationships with them. Along the way, I underscore with examples from biology the potential limitations of current forms of mathematics for understanding/interacting with our world and the potential benefits of considering other-than-persons as having different knowledges to contribute.

This is real, I thought it was the Onion again but no. Perhaps belongs in the No Limit on Stupid thread, but the author is a scholar and has a Doctorate. Google "Mathematx". As the Wicked Witch said: "What a world, what a world."

#1 in the CAA is #69 overall. Northeastern. I think that they are a lot better than where Welser put them.

Will be a tough test on 11/24. Maybe Grady will score 47 like Gerdy did on 11/24/78.

I now have the film of the 47 point game. Unfortunately, did not have it when making the 70s-80s video.

Pretty clearly an above average effort by Gerdy.

Worth mentioning that Valdir Manuel left St. Joe's yesterday.

Make an excuse to add it into the 2018-19 Run to the Final Four disc.

(You snuck into the recent video a shot by Luke, who DNP.)

He could have helped them. Sounds like he wasn't all that interested in being a student.

He is a 3-star (4 stars on at least one web site) big man from Angola who has played in the US since 2015. He was recruited by a lot of Power 5 programs, including Wake Forest, Syracuse, and Illinois. He committed to Seton Hall in March, but never signed, then lost interest in Seton Hall when their coach left. He signed with SJU on July 24 and was considered a major coup for the Hawks.

15 slots between #4 and #5 seems like a lot, but maybe not so statistically significant. I gather that people are suggesting another stratified year, with different teams at the top. He does have both of those teams going to the NIT, so good news and bad news, I guess.

I see that SMU got there in between. I didn't watch any of their games last season, as best I recall. In better times I'd be sure to catch the games with Cincinnati. Strangely, I remember watching some of them on the 23" set in the front room. I almost never turn it on, and it isn't hooked to a cable box. So finding those games were real flukes.
