Appreciate Cobb's comments. Hard to know how to react to a game like this. Why are we scheduling a team against which we can score 90+ points. Why are we scheduling a team that can score 60+ on us. We are obviously a team in transition, but I am starting to become a believer that the foundation for a successful (more competitive) program is being laid. |

We had 685 rushing yards last night. L-R had over 800 rushing yards in that 1975 game. It was pretty disheartening. _________________ ...coming out of the murky, dreary jungle of untutored mediocrity. |

And now we've defeated them in the 90s. |

LR had an All American RB who missed the bus to the game. He didn't play until the 2nd half. Because he wasn't in the lineup at the beginning of the game, they passed several plays. When they discovered their backups could run at will, they dropped the passing and ran every play.
I've been typing this last night and this morning with one eye on the hurricane coverage. |
Scott Crawford was the running backs name I believe. |

I got to watch an offense run 100 plays in a college football game. You don't see that very often. We'll get better. We'll eliminate some of the really bad penalties. We'll score against every team on the schedule. But stopping people in the Pioneer is going to be problematic. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. Guilford is not that bad of a team and an appropriate opponent for a program that has struggled to win games over the years. Pardon the pun but last night was "the perfect storm". First the offense executed very well. 2nd Guilford had a very short week to prepare for the option. Third because we couldn't stop them our offense got an enormous amount of possessions.
Defense will get better when Coach has more time with this team and he can add numbers through recruiting.
I curse all of you for mentioning the Lenoir Rhyne game. I played in that debacle and I was finally getting past my football PTSD from that game. Crawford and the full back Mike McWhirter were only kept out of one series. Our coaching staff from New England had no comprehension how to stop Southern bone football.
Wildcat football looks bright for the future. The freshman QB who ran the option in high school is the real deal too. He was very crisp with his option play in the 4th quarter too. _________________ "They were energized by this move to the A-10. How could you not be?" McKillop said. Great job by Coach Abell and the staff. This is the offense that we should have been running for the past 5 years under that other guy
I seem to remember many naysayers when the topic of the triple option was brought up back then, but I'd never say "I told you so".

I have always loved throwing the football, but I came to realize that if Davidson wants to be competitive, the option is the way to go.
Kickoffs will be a thing of the past at all levels very soon. |

Attendance shows as 2922. In 10 years, 29,220 will claim to have been there.

The kick off rule changes are dumb. Very few people get hurt on punts. Move the players up to the 45 and there will be less violent collisions. The players will then cover kickoffs like punts. _________________ "They were energized by this move to the A-10. How could you not be?" McKillop said. "The tree is filled with a lot of presents." |
