Welp. More rebounds, more blocks, more steals, fewer turnovers and a higher shooting percentage than your opponents will win quite a few games, even if it doesn't include the pretty offense. |

We still need better overall guard play - shooting % as well as ability to penetrate. Some of penetration issue is due to opponents being able to cheat on our forwards. Nate needs to get more involved. Dus too. |

Noticed that as well. Luka is there if we can figure it out. Doesn't have to be an alley-oop per se. Just get him the ball. I think we are missing some back cuts as well. Need to be a bit more aggressive with our passes. Seems like more is there than we are realizing. |
NE really pushed it at times, great spacing that created wide-open driving lanes.
mccabemi, missing the cutters, or would-be cutters not cutting? _________________ That didn’t happen.

Can’t say enough good things about Luka. He played iron man minutes in the second half. What I really like is how well he reads the defense with the ball in his hand, both from the perspective of feeling the double team and knowing to kick out and understanding where his leverage is against a defender on his back. _________________ This is a post by BDF, not BDL. |

Solid game that got too close at the end. JAG ended with a solid line but really struggled at the end, before doing what he always seems to do and getting the big bucket on the baseline when the score was still 69-66. Kellan is best when the offense is clicking and the ball is moving. Luka continues to look solid, and what impressed me the most was how he made great passes out to shooters when his post-move wasn't working out, even though we didn't hit those attempts it was good offense.
Really love that Luke comes out firing early in the game, as he clearly has a mandate to be aggressive and try to get going. While still not shooting great, he is taking some hard shots and the most under-discussed part of coming back from leg injuries is how it impacts your shot. As he continues to get into game shape while doing all the little things on both ends of the court people have noticed, I expect the shots will start falling.
It's weird how we're 5-1 and shooting so poorly from three as a team. Still waiting for that breakout game, and hoping that comes sooner rather than later.
Like coach said in his postgame, much to improve on, but we're 5-1 with no bad losses. We need to play better, but we have showed guts and haven't blown a game we should have yet. |

How have Nate and dusan looked? Are they improving off injury? I think it’s critical they’re ready to go by Wake, Temple, UNC games |

Yesterday, Nathan looked like the boxscore says. Less than a minute, 1 rebound, 1 turnover, 2 fouls. Dusan is moving pretty well. He'll make some big contributions. I'm eager to see Nelson get some minutes. He was fun to watch this summer. Bates Jones can help us, too. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. Nelson plays hard, is long, and is a good passer/ball handler on offense. I would also like to see him get an opportunity, guessing he would be the opposite of a stat-stuffer: a guy who shows up little in the box score but the team is better with him on the floor. |

We may have out-shot them overall, but still lagged from beyond the arc. It will be hard to create and maintain large leads in the absence of decent 3-point shooting. |

Nelson looks super athletic and long, I’m excited to see how he develops in the future. However, with how Mckillop coaches I dont think we are going to see a lot of Bates or Nelson this season. |

A lot depends on Dusan and Nate's health as the season goes on. I see us needing another big body as time goes by. |

Our typical long range shooters have been poor from deep to start the season. From 3: KP is at 29.6% w/ 4.5 attempts/game, Kellan is at 30.3% w/ 5.5 attempts/game, Luke is at 27% w/ 6.2 attempts/game, and David is 27.3% w/ 1.8 attempts/game. The fact that we are 5-1 with 3 good wins is incredible; HOWEVER, there is no way this holds. All these guys can and will start shooting well. |

mccabemi, missing the cutters, or would-be cutters not cutting? |
Our best teams find cutters when they aren’t even open. This team- so far- has been reluctant to hit cutters unless wide open. Plenty of motion, just very tentative.
At one point in the game we had two cutters wide open underneath the basket. The good news: we found 1 of the 2 for a layup. I believe it was Kellan and Jag.
My favorite sequence was early in the 2nd when Jag drove and found Kellan for 3. The next time down Kellan returned the favor, kicking it out to Jag. |

Kellan obviously passed up two or three open shots to pass to someone else. Perhaps he was following the playbook more than instinct. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |
