Dartmouth started out down 15, then they put Sistare in and now it's 28-25. Sistare 6-6 for sixteen points. |

Dayton up early. A10 needs a win to avoid a disastrous day. _________________ "Then they started making 3s. A lot of 3s. We're talking more 3s than a bad dating site." |

Buffalo blew out Dartmouth. You can’t draw conclusions on common opponents, of course, but, the jury is out on Dartmouth challenging in the Ivy. |

How could Dartmouth challenge in the Ivy? They played well against us, but that isn't a good team. _________________ "McKillop is a gentleman. He could have played 'name that score' if he so desired."---St Joe's fan |

+1, hopefully that game was an aberration. The two wins over decent opponents in Charleston at least suggest that the dartmouth game doesn’t represent our true team. |

Buffalo is a top 25 team, but was missing one of their two best players. The line was Buffalo -20, and I don't think that accounted for the absence of CJ Massinburg. |

We've watched November/December basketball before. It seems like we should have figured out by now that drawing conclusions about ourselves or our opponents about any single game is pretty dicey.
12/10/2011: 23 point blowout loss at UNCC after leading at the half. McKillop apologizes to fans in postgame interview.
Next game they beat Kansas at Kansas City. Kansas then went on to play for the national title.
Those two games might have shown off the best and worst of that team, but neither was predictive of the outcomes of the other 31 games.
An example to make citycat happy:
In 1962-63 Davidson played the top two ranked teams in the country in consecutive games. They beat #2 Duke and then lost to #1 Cincinnati 72-46.* That second game made sure Davidson would not make its first appearance in the AP rankings for another year.
There are a lot of moving parts for both us and our opponents in the early going. If all goes well, Northeastern's best player will spend a relaxing week recovering from his injury, will watch us complete a sweep, and then will return to full strength, win the regular season and tournament mvp awards in the Colonial, and assure that Davidson's two wins are "quality wins" against a top 100 squad.
*Sink, note how the winner's score typically appears first. |

Looks like I got it right on Gonzaga, but balanced it out with a lunatic prediction on Dartmouth!
Happy Thanksgiving! |

Dayton looked like Dayton - very quick, athletic, strong to the hoop squad - in besting Butler last nite. The Flyers will be a factor in the A-10 race. _________________ All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for men of good will to do nothing. Eddie Burke

Dayton and VCU have looked really good, they may not be back but the talk of an indefinite decline for both seemed to be misplaced.
Obviously their long-term health is critical to league’s health/strength. |

What an odd and antiquated notion. I'm sure glad ESPN doesn't do that. Listing scores correctly (meaning that the home team is listed second), gives so much more information than just listing the winner first. It does get a bit confusing this time of year. There are so many tournaments and the team wearing home uniforms isn't always the higher ranked or higher seeded team. For instance, look at today's scores. Dayton was the home team against #4 Virginia. Go, Longhorns!

I'm fine with the fact that "it's what ESPN does" isn't one of my arguments. |
