Really enjoyable fourth quarter, closer than the final score would suggest, as is often the case in basketball when the team that is ahead makes almost all of their foul shots in the closing minutes.
I was surprised to see here that we did better on turnovers. As a fan, I was much more conscious of our possession losses.
It also was entertaining to watch the men's team watch basketball. Some of them had been sitting over in the southeast corner where families sit for their games. As more players came in, the moved to the chairs opposite the opponents' bench, and I was sitting higher up and a bit to the right.
At one point Kellan turned and looked up and smiled and waved at me. Well, he could have been waving at the Hyders in front of me or somebody farther back, but I choose to ignore those possibilities. Made my day. OK, two Wildcat victories made my day, but a smile and a wave were nice. He appreciates his fans. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

CC, thanks for the game report and sorry if I missed you at the game. I was able to attend the W&M game over the Thanksgiving break.
My take on the game-- I liked our effort but was not particularly impressed with our offensive flow. I am interested in what others saw. We seemed to pass it around the perimeter almost without thinking. Eventually, W&M caught on and started anticipating our passes. Other times we would pass the ball and then wait for someone to play one-on-one, either penetrating for a shot or pass. I would have liked to see more ball movement that built toward an open shot. More screening, more passing to and through our forwards leading to an inside shot or an open three. Our three-point attempts seemed to be more contested than W&M's.
A sample of one, but our ball movement seemed more effective and strategic last year. |
