I'll be giddy if we get 10 minutes/game out of those two players. Combined. |
I’m usually very pessimistic but I really think we can squeeze a nice platoon out of Ekwu and Dusan. I especially hope Ekwu has good health; everyone here knows he deserves it and how good he can be athletically and defensively when he’s healthy. |

That's for sure. The only way this would happen is if Dusan suddenly becomes an excellent three point shooter.
Lizard brain says 4 good 3 point shooters on floor at all times. |
You will have 5 if Luka starts. |
I believe in Luka and he has boatloads of talent but asking a true freshman to start immediately in the frontcourt is a lot to ask. I think it has been proven/illustrated that it takes big men longer than guards to develop and become acclimated to DI ball. |
Peyton did okay. |

Jake Cohen and Ian Johnson, too. It helps when a player has played in a competitive league prior to arriving. Luka played in a professional league in Austria.
Mike Maloy played professionally in Austria for many years after his short career in the ABA. |

If Luka performs at a Jake/Peyton level as a freshman, I'll be satisfied. _________________ This is a post by BDF, not BDL. |

An admission- there was a father-son duo who served as Superior Court judges from Forsyth County. When I started practicing the veteran attorneys called them BD1 and BD2 (Big Dummy 1 and Big Dummy 2). I would never (admit to) using either nickname. BDF and BDL do not qualify for the nickname, but the use of "BD" in their nom de screens always reminds me of the distinguished jurists from Winston-Salem. |

A freshman who is Cohen/Maloy/Aldridge rolled into one sounds promising. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

My mention of Mike Maloy was not meant to compare Luka's and Mike's readiness to play college basketball as freshpersons. It was only to note both played pro ball in Austria.
I was at my in-laws' house in Wilkesboro in the late 1980s and read in the Winston-Salem Journal Mike had a long career in Austria that had not ended.
If Luka is as good as MM15 was in '66-'67, this will be a fun year. I know Mike played freshman ball that year, but he dominated. |

Thank you but I readily admit that there have been multiple occasions where dummy would be an accurate way to describe me... quick clarification I use BDL because it is the code for the airport in my home state. |

Im still hopeful that Nate and Dusan get a lot of minutes and have big roles with the team this year. I remember a post season podcast with one of the coaches where they said something along the lines of they wouldnt have encouraged nate to come back unless the doctors and everyone thought hed be clear to play and have a big role with the team. Dusan has shown some fantastic offense skill moves, hes just never been able to get many minutes together due to injuries. Cant wait to see how hell perform if he can get into the rhythm of a game. |

Yes, that was the part I was rolling in. The extent that I was celebrating or making hock of our collective enthusiasm is left as an exercise for the reader.
From what you say, I saw MM play freshman ball and one year of varsity. _________________ Μεγάλη ἡμÎÏα εἶναι ΛÏγξ |

Mike missed several games due to injury but the freshman team went undefeated anyway. Included in that was a sweep of Duke, which forms the basis for Jerry Kroll's claim that he had a winning record against the Blue Devils (an argument that wftc seems hesitant to buy). |
