after 10 games our Cats are #1 in FCS (124 teams) in both total offense per game and rushing offense per game. Furthermore they are in the Top 10 in 4 or 5 other offensive categories. In the reality of college football this is frankly an incredible feat in year 1 of the New Era. With a couple of breaks and decent calls by the zebras we could be 7-3 or 8-2 right now.
So much to build on.
Coach Nichols deserves a lot of credit for recruiting a majority of these athletes.

I think one of the most exciting things is that the skilled players in this offense are young. We have almost everyone coming back. Offense depth should be excellent next year. We do have a couple of stud linemen that have to be replaced. They need to get some credit for the holes they have been breaking open too.

I would also assume the QB Phelps will improve his option passing skills. We had 3 easy pass TD opportunities against San Diego as well. Two were overthrown and Duggar juggled another. The offensive future is bright.

I am confident that our D will improve too. Many strong option teams can recruit athletes who can either play slot, wide out, or defensive back. If the offense is loaded, you can shift some of the talent to add defensive backfield depth. Wildcat future looks bright.

Now if we were most big time programs, Wild you would be responsible to get strippers from Lake Norman area for the players off season and Sante needs to lock in the leased cars for the players. We have to keep these athletes at Davidson. Wink Wink

Fun Fact: Cats on pace to set 2 all-time FCS single season rushing records entering week 12 vs Butler.

In 2017 our offense ran for 1756 yards in 11 games. The 2018 Cats got more than half of that last GAME.

In our 8 Pioneer League losses in 2017, we scored a combined 131 points. The 2018 Cats have scored a combined 146 points in the last three games.

Bama woke up in the second half. 50-17.

If Citadel can hang with them for a half, maybe we should take a 1 million dollar check and play them. Laughing

I don't think U Conn will take him. They just hired Edsall and I think they are paying off their X basketball coach. Plus I think they are paying Hurley some big bucks too.

Too much red ink.

My comment was in jest. I was watching UConn get throttled by ECU. Coach Edsall's contract has many bonuses that increase his pay that aren't necessarily related to winning games. Ryan McGee has commented about the bonuses.

Let's hope Edsall received a bonus if UConn could hold ECU's 5'7" walk on freshman receiver to less than 4 TD catches.

You have to work pretty hard to avoid being excited and proud about the program and optimistic about it going forward. The turnaround has been amazing, a real tribute to everyone involved.

To have the winning season clinched by the defensive side of the ball is icing on the cake. You couldn't make up a better ending for a team that has remained competitive through a series of heartbreaking losses that should have affected them during that last possession.

If Scott Abell isn't unanimous coach of the year in the conference, the award should be discontinued.

Excited and optimistic here but I can't be the only one who finds 6-5 at least a little bit disappointing can I?

Very easily could have been 9-2 or even 10-1 preparing for a playoff game. While the future certainly looks very bright, there are no guarantees.

For example Valpo went 6-5 last year, talk of them challenging for PFL title this year. A key transfer, several key injuries, as well improvement by Cats & others & they were a win over JU in 20 degree weather from being dead last.

I'm hopeful that 6-5 becomes a disappointing year in the not too distant future.

Go Cats!

If the coaches can build a defense to match the new offense they have created, we will be hell on wheels!
