This is horrible, not to mention embarrassing. But also a good reminder that white supremacists aren't necessarily dumb (or at least aren't bad students), and that we can't get complacent and assume that because we're all Davidson folk, we're all good people.

If you click on the link to the Army twitter account in one of those articles, the most recent statement says the twitter account does not belong to the Davidson ROTC student named in the articles and that she did not make/post/whatever those tweets.
That assumes an authorized Army spokesperson made that tweet.
Reading some of the tweets took me aback. The tweeter spoke nostalgically about the Klan and the 1920s. My dad was old enough to remember the 1920s. It was a terrible time in the South. Agricultural commodity prices were low. The cotton crops in NC and SC were hit by a boll weevil. The '20s were not boom times in the South.
The Klan expanded into the midwest. Indiana was fertile ground for the Klan, for some reason. There were huge Klan rallies in Washington every summer, which is the worst place and time to be parading around in a heavy robe.
The College could study its racist past and have Woodrow Wilson's name taken off the sign on Main Street. Replace him with Leonidas L. Polk, the founder of Progressive Farmer magazine. (Not the Episcopalian priest associated with Suwanee)

There was a moment of silence before the game tonight in remembrance of the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht tomorrow and in memory of those recently shot in Pittsburgh.

They could have mentioned the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, too. 11/11/18. |

I think I’ve said this before but I’m an extraordinarily proud Jewish American. I am also a Hall counselor. From a firsthand account I can attest to how this has affected EVERYONE on campus mentally and emotionally. HOWEVER, I can also say that at no point have I felt unsafe. God Bless Carol Quillen, she and the school have done an absolutely incredible job (as always) and we as a community will get past this without a doubt.
Just a quick anecdote, the other day I had a classmate almost cry when she saw and checked in on me. She even told me how she researched how to help/protect Jewish people from Neo-Nazis. This is a tight community and we will endure.
Also in response to the Major’s tweet.... Its her. Many in her year have known her to be an extremist and her boyfriend is known as a bigot (he was kicked out of KA for being too racist). Beyond a shadow of a doubt that was her twitter and those are her views. |

If this info is true it is horrible but..........let's not jump the gun and let all the facts come out. Call me skeptical but I have a problem when a small story like this hits several news sources the same day and was fueled by an effort from the "Carolina's Workers Collective"
Please explain to me how you sit around reading Nazi & White Supremacist sites and some how match them up to a Davidson student?
Again I am not defending the Nazi viewpoint but I hope we give the student due process in a day where it is pretty easy to hack an account.
If true, let's not go overboard either. It might have been two students out of 1800. This would not make Davidson a bastion for White Supremacy.

I don’t mean to be rude but did you see the evidence? The account in question posted an issue of the Davidsonian, repeatedly said he/she went to Davidson, was a part of ROTC, Davidson Sailing and a German TA. The account also had multiple postings of not just anti-semitic but also virulently racist and homophic sentiment (so definitely not a hack, which is usually a one time thing). It is pretty clear. This isn’t even taking into account what we know about her from personal experience. |

| I was reading the Princeton Alumni Journal yesterday and suddenly realized that Carol Quillen is a Princeton alum. She will be one of the featured speakers at Alumni Day at Princeton. |

I suppose she makes a decent red herring though.
