I can't say that I have been to many of these stadiums. Back in my day we played more SoCon & Patriot League opponents.

I am just curious how you feel the Cats stack up against our peers.

Rank them.

Hey, I am just happy with the pictures. I almost want to go on a FCS tour and see the stadia.

Ivy, Patriot, Colonial, and SoConn have our league beat.

I still think we have a lot of potential at Davidson if we keep winning, redo the stadium, and promote the "retro" game.

The players (one current and many recent former Wildcats) I've spoken with unanimously rate us DFL in Pioneer stadium/facilities.

Remember, with the exception of sometimes Dayton and Butler, we recruit against SoCon, Ivy, and Patriot League programs. So we need to have facilities on par with those conferences.

I don't think we can build a stadium that equals the Yale Bowl or Franklin Field.

In a perfect world, we would have about 6,000 seats, maybe 2,400 on the visitors' side and 3,600 on the home side. The home side needs to be be big enough to accommodate a state of the art locker room with space for 100 players.

The stadium hosts lacrosse matches, too. Maybe we could host the NC High School Lacrosse Championships or Western Regional Championships. These facilities need to be used.

My vision of "retro"

1. Somehow build or fix the stadium with a traditional look. Brick & cement, more like a Wrigley field or Camden yards. We should not get some aluminum/metal structure. Better bathrooms, concessions, and some type of box seats.

2. Quality tailgate venue. I still would like tailgate access to the road behind the South endzone.

3. Some type of pep band, bugle corp, etc.

4. It would be nice to put the opponent's school flags back on top of the old Johnson Gym/union building.

5. I think 8000 seat with temporary end zone seating to push it higher. Big enough to get and home & home with a Furman, Citadel, WCU, Princeton, etc.

6. Better scoreboard.

7. Move the Grid Iron club up to the terrace/union.

8. Promote to the yuppies in the Lake Norman area. Inexpensive, family entertainment vs power football. I would love to see a Princeton, Yale, Harvard, etc game on campus with about 8000 happy fans.

5. 8000 seems a little high to me. They use to have temporary end zone seating.
7. Just curious, why the terrace/union area? Not enough room IMO.

I am not an expert on stadium leasing but I think it would be nice if we could use the stadium for special events i.e. soccer championships, high school playoff games, maybe even a concert or two. I think the proper stadium could be a great marketing tool for the College. I think the more we can get the Lake Norman crowd over to the stadium the better it will help our football attendance.

A smaller version of the Mercer stadium might be nice.

The GridIron event would be classier up on the terrace. Also the worst seat in the house are ground level end zone. Why would you want to watch from that level? The union terrace also has rest rooms.

Better yet. Higher up.

The best view with food was back in the day, circa 2000, when the Wildcat Club was up in the press box area. Some of us watched us finish the season 10-0 from this great venue.
